This group activity is a good way to set the scene for encouraging good listening skills within the workplace and / or classroom. Homophones are words that have the same sound (pronunciation) but different meaning and (usually) different spelling. Included in this document are 66 pairs of common homophones. These can be printed, laminated, cut out and used in various activities to practice correct spelling, pronunciation and meaning of words. This diagram can be printed out for ESOL learners who are studying the future tenses. It covers Present Continuous, Present Simple, Be going to and Will. The diagram demonstrates both useage and form and provides examples. The can be incorporated into a lesson or used on its own. It also has a handout for students to complete. They do this by writing their own sentences into the speech bubbles using the correct form. When I used it, I had a colour copy enlarged to A3 and also provided the learners with an A4 copy. They very much appreciated it.

This resource is for use in teaching primary and / or ESOL, ESL. It includes a list of synonyms and antonyms in poster form displaying answers and a mix in match activity. This can be a pair or group activity to practice using this set of vocabulary. There are also two worksheets that can be filled in by learners. One to input antonyms and one to input synonyms. This resource contains documents that are useful to use when teaching about workplace forms. They provide good examples with graphics of Accident and Hazard forms. Learners can enter in their workplace forms and also their specific workplace examples of accidents, incidents and hazards that could affect the safety of themselves and others in the workplace. The documents can be edited for specific company details. There is also a standard form that can be filled out as an activity for students.

This resource covers tips for giving effective instructions in the workplace. It contains a 3 page worksheet that provides an example using sequencing words and activities for learners to carry out including a roleplay. It also has a warm up activity that asks learners to follow instructions to complete a test. It is a fun activity that always trips up learners. They inevitably do not read the first instruction carefully enough and end up doing extra work. The resource is provided in both pdf and word document format for editing if necessary. This 16 page resource looks at different forms of communication and their application in the workforce. It is an interactive lesson that looks at passive, aggressive, assertive and indirect behaviours. There is opportunity for pair work and group work activities and discussion that explores the best way to handle situations. Two workbooks are provided. This is a powerpoint presentation that has been created for English learners to identify words about work. This would form part of a lesson on the topic of work and jobs. There are pictures on each slide along with a notes area that shows the phonemic pronunciation of the word as well as where the stress should be. The facilitator should elicit the word from the students and then practice saying it as a group and individually.

This game can be used for ESOL learners to practice their speaking and listening in a fun way. It is similar to snakes and ladders. You use a dice and a board and play in teams. You can print this sheet out and laminate it if you like to keep it clean and readily available for repeated use. I have left it in a Word document so that you can edit it and change some of the topics to make it relevant to what you are teaching.
