This 16 page resource looks at different forms of communication and their application in the workforce. It is an interactive lesson that looks at passive, aggressive, assertive and indirect behaviours. There is opportunity for pair work and group work activities and discussion that explores the best way to handle situations.
Two workbooks are provided. One for students to work through either paper based or digitally on Word, and a Teacher workbook that contains answers.
I have used this with small groups of learners and it has been very well received. The session concludes with students carrying out roleplay activities.
Do you need a fun and engaging resource that will get your students thinking about PPE and Health and Safety in general? This fits the bill!
The objective of this game is to be the first player to be fully kitted up with the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ready to work. E.g. they have all the items written on their list that they need.
Each player needs a sheet of paper and a pen to write their list of PPE – Personal Protective Equipment. The only other item needed is a dice.
The resource contains a word document and a power point presentation to display the game instructions to the class. Alternatively, they could be written on whiteboard or printed out. This game is best played in small groups.
This resource contains various phone call situations written on role play cards that occur at work. It also contains a set of blank cards for learners to make up their own scenarios as well as message pad templates. Learners can role play situations and practice their telephone answering skills.
It is important that the person answering the call uses correct telephone etiquette and takes down the message accurately.
They can be used as part of or a whole lesson on telephone etiquette, which is an important customer service skill.
Instructions:
1. Use the Word document to make any changes to the scenarios. Go straight to 2 if no changes are required.
2. Print out as many copies of page 3 as you need. (Will depend on number of pairs).
3. Cut out with scissors or guillotine
4. Page 5 contains phone message pads. Use them to take messages.
To do the activity, all you need is two students, one with paper and pen for taking a message. Have your students sit back to back so they cannot use non-verbal cues to understand what their partner is saying. That way the role-play will be more like a real telephone conversation.

This resource contains crossword puzzles for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
It’s a great way to get students engaged in learning the vocabulary around the software package they are working on. The crosswords can be printed out and worked on individually, in pairs or as a group activity.
My adult learners really enjoy this aspect of the lesson. It can be carried out at the beginning or the end of the lesson.
Lesson Starter / Warmup
Start the lesson with a fun dice game focussing on Personal Protective Equipment.
Move on to a mix and match group activity exploring common words taken from H&S Policies.
Mental health awareness reading passage and comprehension questions.
Ensure learners know about the forms to use in the workplace and when to use them with the Workplace Incident / Accident / Near Miss lesson and the Template to be filled in when an incident occurs.
Finish off with a fun crossword puzzle that reinforces the same words learnt previously.
Lots of room for discussion in these topics.
Your students will love these task cards on conflict management that engage their problem solving and critical thinking skills. All essential life and workplace skills.
Teachers note that there is also a pdf supplied that provides responses to the Task Cards, ensuring that key points are touched on within the discussions.
Conflict Management is an important life-skill for business education, the workplace and the classroom. This resource generates important discussions and can be used in pair or group activities. Great for when you have a sub as well.
Refer to the preview for more information and to find step by step quick instructions for creating the task cards. Its as easy as printing, laminating and cutting. (or if you don’t want to laminate, just print out on card stock). Once prepared they are ready and done for years to come.
I hope you enjoy using these, as much as my students have.
This is a one page list of all the shortcut key combinations you can use in Excel. It will save you so much time.
The great thing about learning shortcuts is that they don't change with versions. And of course you don't have to grab the mouse, you can get everything done without the use of the mouse which saves you time and increases productivity.
You will be amazed at what can be accomplished using shortcut keys. From moving around your spreadsheet quicker, to formatting and inserting charts. Try them out - lots of fun!
Please leave a review. Thanks and have a great day :)
This is a powerpoint presentation that has been created for English learners to identify words about work. This would form part of a lesson on the topic of work and jobs. There are pictures on each slide along with a notes area that shows the phonemic pronunciation of the word as well as where the stress should be. The facilitator should elicit the word from the students and then practice saying it as a group and individually.
