This resource relates to phonics - CVC words. These are Valentine’s Day themed phonic worksheets that you can incorporate into your lessons. Ideal to review segmenting and blending consonant-vowel-consonant words.
Students look at the picture and say the word and then identify and segment each letter so that they can write the three letters above the sound buttons in the blank boxes provided. When they have blended the word, they write out it correctly.
If you are looking to review or assess your students’ level of phonic awareness, then these worksheets are ideal.

These are Spring phonics worksheets relating to beginning consonant blends or clusters. They are ideal for reviewing work on blends and for writing simple sentences using beginning blends. There are also differentiated multiple-choice worksheets whereby students select the correct blend to complete one or two words in a sentence.

There are 7 consonant blends worksheets containing 9 blends pictures on each sheet with incomplete words. Students select the correct missing blends from the grid using the picture clues.
The blends are:
bl-, br-, cl-, cr-, dr-, fl-, fr-, gl-, gr-, pl-, pr-, sc-, sk-, sl-, sm-, sn-, sp-, st-, sw-, tr-, and tw-.
Writing activity: Worksheets 1 to 3
Students write simple sentences using each of the beginning blends shown in the grid with pictures. They should check their work making sure they start their sentence with a capital/uppercase letter and finish with a full stop.
Missing consonant blends worksheets (differentiated)
Worksheet 1: Students select one correct blend to complete the word in the sentence.
Worksheet 2: Students select two correct blends to complete the words in the sentence.
Colour by Code: Spring flowers (2 versions) – with Solution.
The blends in this activity are colour-coded. The consonant blends are: br, cl, fl, sl, sp, pr and tr.
The image shows words and pictures beginning with consonant blends.
First version: the colours are displayed with the beginning consonants in order to colour the images correctly, students use the colour code to complete the activity.
Second version: Students will need to colour in the crayons before using the code to complete the picture.
Optional paper sizes A4 and US letter size and spelling of colour/color for the consonant blend colour code activity.

Worksheets 1 and 2: Cut and paste differentiated activity
There are three versions of this activity
Students cut out the colour pictures and match them to the correct consonant blends worksheets 1 and 2.
Version 1: The cut and paste sheet contains b/w pictures only. As with the colour pictures, students should cut out and match the correct consonant blends and then colour in the pictures.
Version 2: The cut and paste sheet contains part of the consonant blend word. Students should write in the missing blends to compete the words and then cut out and glue on the worksheets 1 and 2.
There are two versions of the letters ‘f’ and ‘k’.

This reading comprehension bundle includes 4 lovely fiction stories.
The vocabulary is age-appropriate and children are encouraged to work out the meaning of words in the context of the story.
The subject matters are familiar to the children and so there are cross-curricular themes.
The booklets cater for all level of readers - The Chase being the easiest.
Booklets 2 are divided into sections. So each paragraph is followed by questions.
Some of the questions require the reader to 'read between the lines'.
Not only is a child's comprehension assessed but other English key skills are incorporated.
The resource can be given to more able pupils to work on independently.

Print and laminate the whole card or you can cut apart the strips and mix them up.
Children look at the picture and say what it is. They then unscramble the word in the centre and write it out correctly using phonemes previously taught.
Other suggested use:
You can cut apart the strips so that you have 56 onset and rime strips. Select the strip you want children to match up and unscramble the cvc words.
Children can match up the pictures that rhyme and then unscramble the words and say the cvc words that rhyme. They can record their work in their literacy workbooks.

Children listen to 5 words with initial blends but one of the words do not contain the same initial blend. They tell you or write on their whiteboard the odd word out. Alternatively, you can read the words out.
There is Teacher’s answer sheet that goes with the listening activity.

I have uploaded a set of time-saving worksheets relating to upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.
Aimed at: Reception/KS1
Total worksheets: 40
Description of resources:
• Set 1 Worksheets – Select the correct initial letters for pictures;
• Set 2 Worksheets – Select 6 correct initial letters out of the 8 from the rectangle to write below the pictures ;
• Set 3 Worksheets – Select correct initial capital letter from circle to complete each word;
• Set 4 Worksheets – Each box contains two pictures beginning with the same initial letters. Students write the initial alphabet letter for the pictures.
• Set 5 Worksheets – Fill in the missing letter to complete the word then rewrite the whole word in capital letters.
• Set 6 Worksheets – The pictures in each box start with different initial alphabet letters. Students write the initial letters below each picture in their best handwriting to practise mid-zone letters, ascender and descender letters. E.g. if the two pictures are a jug and a table, the student writes the ‘j��� (descender) and ‘t’ (ascender) on the handwriting lines.
