Do you want your students to improve their persuasive writing? Look no further! This activity makes learning persuasive techniques fun, practical and memorable!
Dive into the world of persuasive language as students search for the techniques around your classroom. This engaging and interactive activity is perfect for learning or revising persuasive techniques.
How it works
Place the cards randomly around the classroom and give each student an answer sheet.
Students walk around the room and read the definitions on the cards. There are examples and visuals also to support students. When they know what persuasive technique is being described, they put it next to the correct number on their sheet.
At the end of the activity, I go through the answers with them so there is a teacher sheet included with the correct answers- you can display this on the board to check understanding.
Differentiation Options
This resource is easily adaptable and can be completed independently, in pairs or in small groups. One idea I use is to pair students up so one stays at the desk writing and the other goes hunting for definitions. Once they are halfway through, they swap roles.
Persuasive techniques included are:
Repetition
Triple (Rule of Three)
Adjective
Simile
Exaggeration
Fact
Adverb
