How to draw a graph in science (Guide/Poster)

(1)
It surprises me how many KS4 students still need to be taught how to draw a graph. An essential scientific and mathematics skill forgotten by most science teachers due to the content driven curriculum. This resource is very 'How Science Works' This can be used as a poster in the centre of student examples, displaying perfect graph work or even examples of what not to do. Or this can be used as a guide to stick in their science books.

This took me a long time to make. Hopefully its all right and you guys find it useful. Sorry I couldn't fit in combustion of fossil fuels. You can get the kids to draw an additional arrow for that in their books. :)

Similar to Badger tasks, this task has been created with literacy and scientific vocabulary in mind. You can download the files as an editable Powerpoint or a flat Printable PDF. The student file consists of a front page asking students to explain the workings of the human body from organelles up to the full organism. Success criteria is detailed within an 'IDEAL' grid, and keywords are given. After 2 pages there is an area for teachers to give feedback and students to respond. I have also written up a 4 page 'IDEAL' answer for the task which can be used as a guide or read out to the class from time to time. I will be making many more of these and uploading them on to TES throughout the year so please look out for them. Key-search-words: human body, organs, organism, organ systems, organelles, organisation, specialised cells, quality of written communication, essay.

Variables and Writing Scientific Questions

Suitable for all year groups but I use this with year 7s as a core lesson in teaching students how to 'work scientifically'. There are 2 lessons in this pack. Both lessons come complete with mini-pleanaries, 1 worksheet each lesson and a learning tracker for students to show their progress on the learning objectives. This fits in very nicely with the Oxford Activate SOW but can be used with an SOW as it is a very important topic for students to understand early on in secondary school or even late primary. I spend a lot of time on making my lessons and only upload the best to TES premium so I hope you find these useful, leave me feedback/stars and see my other upload.
