All resources included in powerpoint. Practical required: Teacher to write a fake suicide/murder note (or part of a note) on filter paper. Show the class how it separates into various pigments. Set up student practical with at least 3 inky black pens. Even if one of the pens is not water soluble, this doesn't matter as it can be a talking point. Please see my other resources too.

Atoms and Atomic Structure - KS3

(0)
An introduction to Atoms and Atomic structure. Lessons includes: - Starter question followed by Title and LOs - Interesting atomic facts - How to draw an atom - Making a 3D atom (with instructions) - Extension Worksheet (next step sheet) - Mini-whiteboard AFL plenary The content of this lesson is in more detail than standard KS3 lessons on atoms. I believe learning about electrons, protons and their position inside an atom is vital for learning about the periodic table, static electricity and so on later in KS3.

Variables and Writing Scientific Questions

Suitable for all year groups but I use this with year 7s as a core lesson in teaching students how to 'work scientifically'. There are 2 lessons in this pack. Both lessons come complete with mini-pleanaries, 1 worksheet each lesson and a learning tracker for students to show their progress on the learning objectives. This fits in very nicely with the Oxford Activate SOW but can be used with an SOW as it is a very important topic for students to understand early on in secondary school or even late primary. I spend a lot of time on making my lessons and only upload the best to TES premium so I hope you find these useful, leave me feedback/stars and see my other upload.

I will be updating this folder with even more lessons as I make them. I make my lessons with very high expectations of the students so some of the content may be past KS3. Please leave feedback and check out my other resources. Keywords: Bases, pH Scale, indicators, litmus paper, red cabbage, Neutralisation, Salts

Worksheets + Answer Sheets 3 worksheets to help students get to grips with explaining elements, compounds and mixtures. - The foundation worksheet is a simple wordsearch with a small descriptive activity at the bottom of the worksheet. - The intermediate worksheet provides scaffolding for students to describe what the different particle diagrams are showing. Elements, compounds or mixtures? - The advanced worksheet provides less scaffolding and encourages students to come up with their own descriptions for elements, compounds and mixtures, using what they see in the diagrams. All worksheets can be downloaded in powerpoint for editing, and pdf format for easy printing.

Isotopes and Mass

- Tutorial - Examples - Quizzes - No Worksheets needed - Peer Marking - Foundation Level. This was made for my bottom set year 9 class who have just started their foundation GCSEs. They are really trying but much of this stuff is proving very difficult for them. This is therefore aimed at very low level learners to help them understand the meaning of isotopes first and foremost. There is also a little bit on Relative Atomic Mass and Relative Molecular Mass with calculation questions.

How to draw a graph in science (Guide/Poster)

(1)
It surprises me how many KS4 students still need to be taught how to draw a graph. An essential scientific and mathematics skill forgotten by most science teachers due to the content driven curriculum. This resource is very 'How Science Works' This can be used as a poster in the centre of student examples, displaying perfect graph work or even examples of what not to do. Or this can be used as a guide to stick in their science books.

Reaction Rates - Assignment 1.4 Worksheet

A simple worksheet I made to help my BTEC class answer the assignment questions for P5. Asks about the effect of different concentrations on rates of reaction, as well as the possible effects of temperature, catalysts and particle size. Hope this is useful.

Metals and Acids: Balancing Equations (WS+Answers)

A double sided worksheet to use as a revision exercise or AfL. Task 1 is fairly simple and can be tackled as a starter. Tasks 2 and 3 may need some guidance for the less able students. This is my first resource posted as a PGCE student. Please rate and comment, thanks.
