This booklet supports a series of lesson and is designed for Entry Level/SEND students to allow them to access the key elements of science. If used in a mixed ability class, these booklets allow students to keep pace with the rest of the class whilst personalising the challenge and support they require.
The booklet is part of a series of booklets with a variety of tasks including matching keywords and definition, scaffolding, extended answers, research and a lot of practical work with matching results tables/graphs.
Some of the diagrams have had to be removed for copyright.
Lesson 22 of 29: Additional Physics
This lesson is part of a series of lessons that are available from scuttscience, Each lesson comes with a range of resources including:
- A "Lesson Plan" format Scheme of Work - highlighting objectives, keywords, resources, starter, 3 main activities, plenary and ideas for support and additional challenge.
- Lesson resources - ranging from practical instructions, bingo, thoughts and crosses, 6 mark extended questions, extended writing tasks, 5 s day, support sheets, calculation bingo, calculation squares and more.
Please note that additional resources are also available. Please search for scuttscience.
Articulate game. Can be used as a starter, plenary or challenge/quiz game.
The student selects a card about the topic studied and has to describe the words using words, picture/diagrams or actions. More points are awarded for not using words or diagrams!!
Great for competition! A fun an interesting game that really engages the students!
Remember to have some rewards for the best action and winner!
15 Homework Sheets.
Each sheet has three questions for students to complete. These are designed around Higher Order Thinking. They begin with identify and move to describe and finally an explain question.
These follow the AQA additional unit.
They are available for Biology, Chemistry and Physics units.
3 GCSE Additional Physics Matching Triangles Games.
Includes an answer sheet and the triangles mixed up for students to cut out and arrange so that the keyword and definition are matched together.
Cover keywords from the whole of the Additional Unit.

UNIT 8 ATOM AND RADIOACTIVITY - GCSE Combined Science PHYSICS - Trilogy V1 - SoW & Resources
Lesson materials and lesson plan with all key components.
Also available as a full Scheme of Work with all lesson resources including starters, main activity and plenary.
Biology and Chemistry Schemes of Work also available for the new combined science.
These lessons have been created for the New Combined Science Trilogy course and are linked to the new AQA specification.
Each lesson varies in its content and are sold individually but they are also available as a complete BUNDLE (see bundles and SAVE).
Lessons include:
- Lesson Plan – a clear overview of the lesson, links to specification, three main objectives, keywords, resources, starters, 3 main activities and plenaries. Ideas are also included for differentiation for lower and more able students.
- PowerPoint – with lesson objectives and keywords on each slide.
- Additional resources – printable sheets for starters/plenaries/investigations.
- Support sheets – guidance for demonstrations and practical activities
All of these lessons will be continually updated and so please continue to revisit these resources for the most up to date resources.

21/09/16 - Physics equation squares - correction to titles
This task is designed around the fact that students need to "learn" the key information. This therefore is given and the students need to learn it. They can make notes in the space inside, but by the end of the task can only make notes on a postcard/post-it.
This is based around study skills and making revision notes - you don't have to copy out the book.
Topics include: conduction, convection, radiation, heat transfers, waves, sound, reflection, refraction, energy, energy resources, solar, power station, national grid, transformers, power, electricity and more.
Progress monitoring booklets for Further Additional Science - Physics P3
A list of the various objectives for each of the topics in the Further Additional Science Unit.
Students can show progress against what they know about a topic at the start and then at the end of a unit. This can then be used to produce a personalised revision programme for the student.
Alternative way of being used, is to print on stickers and use in books.
The idea works that students should know the core building blocks around the edge of the page.
The task therefore is to work inwards and begin to summarise these key points in the middle, only focusing on the things they have forgotten.
The final task is to get this all on to a postcard - their revision notes to take away! This makes it all manageable for the student.
This is one topic only and the full unit can be downloaded as a complete file.

Revision loop card activity for Additional Physics. Students need to cut out the cards and then sequence them so that the question on one card matches the answer on the next one. If the student get them correct, it will form a loop.
The answer sheet is also provided so that you can quickly check response and identify any mistakes made by the student(s).
A great activity to challenge students - who is quickest; to assess students and highlight misconceptions.
Loop cards include questions about:
Nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, atomic structure, alpha, beta, gamma, ionisation, penetration power, electric fields,

The loop cards can be used as tool for assessment of prior learning, progress and revision. Students need to match the question on one card with the answer on another card, like dominoes.
The answer sheet is given at the end of the document.
This is good to do a pace and challenge activity.
Great plenary, starter or revision activity.
A student is given a card and has to describe the word without using any of the three words given or the actual word.
Students can then make their own versions too as great revision too.
