French GCSE Holidays: Present, Past, Future Tense Knowledge Organiser & Translation
A comprehensive knowledge organiser / topic speaking mat on the topic of holidays with translation practice based on this. The knowledge organiser could be used throughout teaching the topic, or as a plenary activity. It is extremely rich in vocabulary chunks and structures and it will allow pupils to write and speak about their holidays with ease (once familiarising themselves with all the language). It could be used for mini-white board translation, dictation or paired translations in class. It is also useful for revision.
The translation practice is a good way to get pupils working on the vocabulary and getting used to its structure, with the key link words and phrases in grey below. Answers included.
Spanish A Level Impacto turístico en España: Medio ambiente y Islas Baleares Reading & Translation
A standalone whole lesson resource on the environmental impact of mass tourism in the Balearic islands. The activities are based on an article suitable for A Level, rich in up-to-date cultural references (A04).
The activities target exam skills: there is a vocabulary search, a reading question with ‘choose the four correct statements’ (out of 8) and also comprehension questions that require answers in Spanish. This is followed by translations into English and Spanish.

French GCSE Les vacances: Holidays present & past reading comprehension & translation
This is a standalone resource for whole lesson on holidays for GCSE. The worksheet focuses on honing reading skills and technique, recycling key vocabulary and translation on this topic. Knowledge of holidays in the present and past tense required.
Activities:
Decode the questions on which the reading comprehension will be based;
Read three short texts about holiday preferences & where the speaker went last year;
Revisit the questions decoded in (1) and decide ‘who says what?’, highlighting the evidence in the text as pupils decide;
A ‘vocabulary search’ of English words/phrases from the texts;
Decoding French sentences which recycle the vocabulary above (translation into English);

This resource recaps ‘faire’ conjugation in the present, past, immediate future and pure future tenses and includes practice with 18 key expressions on this topic.
