A translation game to get pupils producing accurate sentences about the basics: name, age, nationality, languages, family, pets & description. Pupils play in threes. Two pupils roll the dice and translate the sentences while one pupil is the referee who checks the accuracy of their answers. There are also empty translation grids to use as a plenary exercise into Spanish and English.

El cine y la televisión. This is a Spanish translation resource pack on the topic of TV & cinema with answers and will help pupils prepare for the translation part of the exam. There are 40 sentences in total, 20 different sentences to translate into each language, which recycle key TV & cinema vocabulary, complex and idiomatic structures and specific grammar points. The sentences include: past, present & future tenses lo mejor/ lo que más me gusta aunque acabo de + infinitive imperfect tense Conditional sentences (si tuviera mi elección, si me tocara la lotería) Verbs which are followed by an infinitive (suelo, prefiero, evito etc.) ‘gustar’ verbs with third person ‘mucha gente’ perfect tense (siempre he soñado con…)

I use this activity to encourage Y11 pupils to have to say complex structures on the sport. Pupils play in threes, roll the dice and then one pupil is the referee who checks the accuracy of their statements. There is also a translation grid to use as a plenary activity to get pupils translating sentences into Spanish.

A verb game to use KS4 to get pupils to practise their key verb conjugations and use them in context. Pupils roll the dice, land on a square and then have to make a sentence using that verb. The verbs are also all conjugated on the back of the board so as the other player, or a referee, can monitor accuracy. This resource is both in .pdf & .doc.
