There are two resources here for introducing key vocabulary for the topic “Tu manges bien?” and also translation practice and and a reading gap-fill activity. The reading comprehension offers some stretch for KS3 or is a good starting point for GCSE and pupils can scaffold their own answers on this model. There is also a speaking mat to use to support pupils with their speaking work. A resource for pupils to use when undertaking a writing task or for when they are preparing their speaking answers. There a range of complex structures: opinions, connectives, positive and negative viewpoints, constructions which work with infinitives in the present and past tenses and some set phrases and adverbs. There is also a list of 32 key infinitives to use. This will scaffold pupils well and allow them to widen their range of language easily. There are also 40 sentences to translate to practise these constructions, with suggested answers.

Pupils work in pairs and they have copy of the attached resource and then use dice, or digital dice, to generate two numbers. The first number gives them the topic and the second number the type of structure. They then have to translate the given sentence into Spanish and their partner ‘marks’ their answer using the grid on the back of the resource. Pupils can also use this independently for revision and self-testing.
