This is a battleships game for practising the subjunctive with an A Level group or G&T GCSE group. Pupils play battleships by marking 5 ships of different lengths (5 squares, 4 squares, 3 squares, 2 squares, 1 square) on their own grid. They must then use the subjunctive with the set grids to guess where their partner's ships are. Pupils can either just use the subjunctive trigger and conjugate a verb or they could create sentences which uses the verb, for example creating sentences on the environment or pollution. You can adopt this worksheet to include different infinitives and constructions, perhaps to revise key topics.

A support sheet for pupils who are describing a photo in French. There are lots of useful phrases to help with describing the photo itself, as well as lots of complex language and A* constructions for pupils to include. The structures and language are in groups: phrases to introduce a photo, past tense expressions, weather phrases, A* constructions to include, useful connectives, opinion phrases etc. My own pupils have found this very useful and it provides an excellent scaffold for them producing high quality work.

There is a PowerPoint which links to a the first resource and introduces pupils to core vocabulary and get them to conjugating the verbs and using them with key complex facilitating structures. There is translation into Spanish, some practice in the conditional tense and another reading comprehension, targeting the same vocabulary. There is also a writing activity which can be given to the pupils as a plenary.

A bank of key verb constructions which are all followed by the infinitive in Spanish. The verbs have been conjugated in the “yo” forms of the present, preterite, imperfect, future and conditional. For use in oral and written work. There is also some practice translation: Spanish to English and English to Spanish which uses these constructions, with answers.

An extended reading task on ‘pocket money’ for GCSE level. There are four texts with model answers that pupils can recycle and adapt to produce their own answers. There is a ‘vocabulary hunt’ activity and a comprehension question in Spanish. This is a good starting point for them then to consider their own answers.
