Choose the right coins to pay for items.
Find the total value of 2, 3 or 4 coins or notes. The answers are small numbers in pence or whole numbers of pounds.
Find coins totalling 5p or 10p.
Add up the total cost of 2 or 3 items in whole numbers of pounds.
Find the change from using £5 or £10 notes to buy items.
Is there enough money to pay for these things ?
Many of the sheets have a colour version to add to the visual appeal.
Print onto card then laminate so the pages can be reused with a wipe off marker pen.

This resource is made up of a powerpoint lesson and three worksheets with progressively harder examples about rearranging formulas. The aim is to introduce rearranging as an extension to solving equations by ‘doing the same to both sides’ so that students see that they are just extending skills they already possess. The new subject only appears once but the questions involve fractions, use of brackets and square and cube roots.
The formulas used are mostly ones encountered elsewhere in maths e.g. volume and area formulas or speed and density. This means the powerpoint is also useful for revising other topics too. There is particular emphasis on the form s = d/t to prepare students for coping with trigonometric formulas.
The worksheets include the answers and working out.

This resource consists of a power point lesson that can be used to teach or revise the use of Pythagoras’s Theorem and 11 worksheets for consolidation or revision. The theorem is used first in right-angled triangles then in isosceles triangles and for finding the length of the diagonals of rectangles. The worksheets provide a framework for calculating the distance between two points given as co-ordinates, there are grids to help students visualise the method.
Other topics covered include areas and perimeters and also the properties of triangles and a triangular prism so that Pythagoras can be applied to solving more complicated problems.

These 5 worksheets help to explain the effects of enlargement on the area and volume of a shape by looking at the length, area and volume ratios. This is an important topic that is often found difficult by many students.
There are three basic worksheets introducing the idea then two pages of harder word problems for extension work. The first worksheet lets students calculate the surface area and volume of simple 1cm and 2cm cubes so they can create the ratios themselves and see how the area and volume ratios derive from the length ratio. Sheets 2 and 3 require students to use the relationships between the ratios to calculate missing areas and volumes.
The two word problem sheets are similar to GCSE 9-1 exam questions.

Diagrams and photographs of simple practical situations are used to show first how e.g. eight halves is the same as four whole units then nine halves is four wholes and a half.

This colourful powerpoint uses animations and photographs to introduce or revise the vocabulary needed for working with circles e.g. radius, diameter, circumference, centre, circular, semicircle. There is also an accompanying worksheet. Slides require students to draw circles with given dimensions and perform calculations based on circles fitting inside other shapes and vice versa.
The images and animations can also be used to revise area calculations, metric unit conversions, symmetry ( using photographs of car badges for instance ) and locus work. The hardest problem requires a knowledge of Pythagoras to solve it. The slides have notes and suggestions accompanying them.

Three pairs of worksheets with answers that are designed to help students understand the use of the mean as an average when data is added or removed from the calculation.
e.g. the mean weight of 5 people is 70 kg. Another person joins the group and the mean is now 71kg. How much did the sixth person weigh.
A lot of students find it hard to see that if you know the mean of a set of numbers and how many numbers there are then you can find the TOTAL of all the numbers. These questions will make them think about how they can use this idea.
