A full Scheme of Learning of poetry study based around the theme of Relationships. Students learn how to analyse, annotate, compare and write about a variety of different poems. The aim is to develop skills they will need for their Anthology Poetry study at GCSE. We use this SoL with Year 9, but it could be used with other students and Year groups as well. Complete Scheme of Learning on WW1 Poetry. There is a range of lessons covering different poets, including Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon. The SoL also has a focus on contextual influences and propaganda poetry. Students learn how to annotate and compare poems with extended writing. We use this with Year 7 but it could be used over a range of year groups and abilities.

A short but complete Scheme of Learning introducing KS3 students to begin to develop some of the skills they will need for their GCSE Language Papers. The SoL is focused around the Ray Bradbury short story ‘All Summer in a Day,’ and covers a range of skills including language and structural analysis, Creative Writing and Persuasive Writing.
