I provide a wide range of resources for use in the classroom and around school. My resources build on children's learning and consider the smaller steps children need to take to achieve the learning. My resources have a focus on 'mastery' style questions where possible, to develop children's critical thinking and reasoning skills. As a practicing primary teacher myself, I know how essential it is to have well organised lesson resources with engaging activities that focus on the learning.

Statements to help you with assessing children against the 2014 Computing Curriculum, or with setting targets. There are separate documents for years 1 and 2, which break down the learning and help to show progress between year groups. As the assessment grids help identify learning for children in each year group, they can also be used to guide planning, again to ensure progress between year groups.

Brazil Topic Medium Term Plan for KS2

6 week medium term plan for a topic on Brazil with key stage 2. There are 29 clearly planned lessons, although you could probably get much more out of these and the topic could easily last longer! This is a heavily geography focused topic. Other subjects include: art, design technology, history, computing, religious education, music and P.E. Lessons are planned to be engaging, whilst developing children's skills. Topics include: the rain forest; deforestation; map work; indigenous tribes; villages; cities; fair trade; carnivals; urban art; percussion instruments; the rubber trade; exploration of religion; and the Olympics. The plan is clearly laid out with learning objectives, key teaching points and questions, activities, differentiation, learning outcomes and the resources you will require.

KS2 Online Safety - Types of communication and email safety - 2 lessons (plans/PP/activities)

Lesson 1: We are learning to understand what different types of communication are available on the internet. Link to website for children to conduct their own research into types of online communication. Some questioning to develop children's thinking, particularly around which types of communication are most useful for what. Touches on being respectful, kind and polite online. Choice of activity for differentiation. Plenary is a self assessment, which is included. Lesson plan and PowerPoint included. Lesson 2: We are learning to understand the dangers posed by online communication. Learning focuses around using email safely. Children learn about dangerous emails that trick you into opening them e.g. 'you have won a prize...' A lot of learning is about the dangers of unknown attachments and the harm a virus can do to a devise. Link to a video to hook children. Lots of questioning to extend thinking and opportunities for discussion. Two choices of activity for differentiation.

Y4 Living Things and their Habitats - Lesson 2, Identifying Living Things (Planning, PP, Resources)

(0)
Lesson PowerPoint, planning and activities for identifying living things. The second in a series of lessons to develop children's knowledge about 'Living Things and Their Habitats,' for the 2014 primary curriculum. Links to coverage of the curriculum are explicit in the planning. We are learning to identify and name living things. An interesting mastery starter - 'What am I?' to develop children's critical thinking and reasoning. Recaps prior learning on how living things are grouped. Opportunity for children to work in mixed ability groups to go on a hunt for living things in their school grounds or local environment. Develop's children's scientific explanations of how to identify and name living things (e.g. specific species of trees, butterflies, birds). Some 'mastery' thinking required through the questions posed, for deepening and mastering learning. 'Living Things' hunt work sheets provided for children to identify what they find and record these (focus on trees, shrubs, birds, insects, small mammals). Opportunity for cross-curricular links to ICT for identifying any living things found that are not identified on the sheets. Mastery questions to encourage children to consider what to search for. Also links with e-safety by recapping how to search the internet safely. Choice of 3 differentiated follow up activities (all of which are provided as well as being explained on the PowerPoint). Activities have cross-curricular links to maths (creating a bar graph). Plenary requires mastery level thinking and leads into next lesson by encouraging children to consider why grouping all living things as plants or animals is not specific enough.
