Life in Modern Britain Lesson 7. This lesson looks at how the press are handled in countries such as China, Russia and North Korea. The lesson focuses on the World Press Freedom Index and considers the impact of the Charlie Hebdo event in France and if this should impact on religious freedom. Progress/Progress+ tasks are given throughout to provide differentiation and challenge. Issues of censorship, regulation and free press are considered.

Life in Modern Britain L6: This lesson looks at the Daily Telegraph releasing information about the MP scandal, The Leveson Inquiry, the publication of the picture of the drowned boy on the Turkish Beach and a look at the definition of the free press. Students watch video clips, complete a gap filler and do an exam style question.

L5 in Life in Modern Britain. This lesson looks at the role, responsibilities and the impact of the media. It also looks at a documentary on the creation of Sarah’s Law and how the media supported this. The lesson finishes with students considering if Sarah’s law was created with the media balancing it’s freedom and the rights of individuals. This would be a double lesson.

L4 Of Life in Modern Britain. Lesson looking and debating identity. Considering what makes up an identity. Finishing with an exam question.

L3 In Life in Modern Britain. This lesson focuses on looking at Push and Pull Factors and considers reasons for and against Immigration. Students then look at the concept of multiculturalism and consider if the UK has failed.

L2 of Life in Modern Britain. This lesson looks at Migration and how this is has impacted on population. The main focus of the lesson is to consider the impact of an aging population.
