BTEC 9-1 Spec, GCSE Specification. Planned for AQA, but suitable for other exam boards. This unit is the same as the bundle currently in my shop. However, I needed to create a single unit resource, to be able to bundle all of the units together :) Planned as in introduction to Sociology. These lesson introduce the key sociological arguments, so that in later units you can get straight on with applying the theory to the unit. Please review if you download.

GCSE Sociology 9-1 Specification A Complete unit of lessons and 2 assessments aimed at the AQA Specification for the GCSE unit Education. This bundle would be suitable for other exam boards. This is the same unit, as a bundle already in my shop. I am putting it into one resource, so I can bundle the units together Lessons cover all key thinkers, have exam practice, model answers and differentiated tasks. This bundle also includes the knowledge organiser so is useful as a revision aid.

These are my old AQA specification resources. They still cover all of the same content, and have assessments, group activities planned into them. So lots of lesson ideas. I am in the middle of tweaking and adapting these to the new specification, but these lessons are a great starting point for a non-specialist (and cheap!)

Observations: Participant/Non-Participant, Cover/Overt, Hawthorne Effect, Geoff Pearson Football Hooliganism. Lesson could take 2 hours if you use the documentary(ies) in full, links shared at the end as not used in the lesson. Students observe a clib from CBB and then attempt to write a report to highlight the difficulty with observations. Read resource and complete worksheet and then create their own observation. A small assessment that encourages students to apply both skills and knowledge to the research methods unit.

A computer based lesson. The worksheet can either be printed (preferable) or shared via a school sharing platform and students can edit it on microsoft word. Powerpoint to assist students doing their websearches.

New Spec 9-1. Included is the progress checkpoint that we complete every 6 lessons, this may suit your assessment schedule as a mini-mid unit assessment. Students complete this as a low-stake, open book assessment where they can see if their notes are of a good enough quality. The feedback lesson includes a whole-class feedback slide, and both 4 mark questions have a model answer. The students highlight and mark this answer, identifying how it is a good answer. They then attempt a new 4 mark question acting on their feedback.

This lesson compares 1950s to 2000s households. Looks at Elizabeth Botts conjugal roles with a considersation of her sample size and if this is a generalisable study. Lesson also uses Talcott Parsons “roles” as an alternative viewpoint. Students then plan their own research into conjugal roles.

New AQA Specification 9-1. Lesson looking at how internal and external factors plus social class affect the educational achievement of working class children

Planned for the new 9-1 Specification AQA Paper 2. A lesson that covers the key thinkers Davis and Moore (1945). Students critique the theory and answer a 4 mark question. Model answer is supplied for self/peer assessment.

This is a mini research unit that will be taught ahead of the units (after the introduction unit). It should take approximately 11 lessons to go through the basic research methods. I am aware this is no longer necessary to be taught as an explicit unit, however we feel they need the basic knowledge to be able to answer the questions in the different units. Lesson 2 looks at what a pilot study is and encourages students to pilot a questionnaire. There is a gap filler task for the sampling techniques and 3 exam questions with model answers.
