Lesson 13 looks at power distribution in the family. There are 2 video clips that look at domestic violence in the UK. Students then complete some comprehension questions.

Included is the progress checkpoint that we complete every 6 lessons, this may suit your assessment schedule as a mini-mid unit assessment. Students complete this as a low-stake, open book assessment where they can see if their notes are of a good enough quality.

Life in Modern Britain Lesson 9: This lesson looks at the Commonwealth and debates if it still serves a purpose in the 21st century. Students complete a leaflet on the commonwealth and complete an exam style question at the end.

Life in Modern Britain: This lesson is the start of looking at the UKs role within International Organisations. This lesson looks at the United Nations. Students complete a detailed Mind Map of the UN, followed by Progress/Progress+ Exam style questions.

A progress Checkpoint is a mid way review that is open book. It is meant to be quick and allow students to reflect on learning for the last 6 lessons. Students self-assess and teacher then gives feedback. This is a mid unit for AQA Life in Modern Britain.

Life in Modern Britain Lesson 7. This lesson looks at how the press are handled in countries such as China, Russia and North Korea. The lesson focuses on the World Press Freedom Index and considers the impact of the Charlie Hebdo event in France and if this should impact on religious freedom. Progress/Progress+ tasks are given throughout to provide differentiation and challenge. Issues of censorship, regulation and free press are considered.

Life in Modern Britain L6: This lesson looks at the Daily Telegraph releasing information about the MP scandal, The Leveson Inquiry, the publication of the picture of the drowned boy on the Turkish Beach and a look at the definition of the free press. Students watch video clips, complete a gap filler and do an exam style question.

A useful document that provides staff with grade boundaries and grade descriptors. Grade score and percentages in the green column are what we are currently using for the 2020 Exam cohort.

L5 in Life in Modern Britain. This lesson looks at the role, responsibilities and the impact of the media. It also looks at a documentary on the creation of Sarah’s Law and how the media supported this. The lesson finishes with students considering if Sarah’s law was created with the media balancing it’s freedom and the rights of individuals. This would be a double lesson.

L4 Of Life in Modern Britain. Lesson looking and debating identity. Considering what makes up an identity. Finishing with an exam question.

L3 In Life in Modern Britain. This lesson focuses on looking at Push and Pull Factors and considers reasons for and against Immigration. Students then look at the concept of multiculturalism and consider if the UK has failed.

L2 of Life in Modern Britain. This lesson looks at Migration and how this is has impacted on population. The main focus of the lesson is to consider the impact of an aging population.
