New Spec Sociology Knowledge Organiser- Research Methods

(0)
A knowledge organiser prepared for the AQA New Spec, but can suit any . Whilst we know Studying Society no longer exists as a separate topic, we have opted to teach a mini research methods unit (soon to be uploaded) after the introduction. This means students have an awareness of the methods and can then feed it into the other units. This is the knowledge organiser for the mini unit. If you download please leave a review.

As this unit is aimed at Year 7 this lesson is very light and factual regarding what contraception is used for and to help them consider, in the future, with method is right for them. There is a strong emphasis on the use of condoms, regardless of the other methods.

Fingers crossed you should find the videos play well (I had IT help me :) ) The lesson also has a disclaimer for students to think sensibly about their contributions.

9-1 Learning Journey Overview WHOLE COURSE

Attached are the learning journeys for the AQA Sociology GCSE whole course. I was asked to create these by a customer who had downloaded some of my lessons and wanted to use them for the whole course. These are printed and stuck into the students books at the start of each topic. You can edit and tweak these to suit your own course. They are great, not only at the start of the topic area, but provide students with a revision checklist. Students can cross out/highlight lesson areas when they have revised them. I will eventually add all of the units to accompany these learning journeys. Introduction to sociology, education and social stratification can be found in my shop. Introduction to Sociology Research Methods (mini unit) Paper 1- Families Paper 1- Education Paper 2- Social Stratification Paper 2- Crime & Deviance

This is an introductory unit aimed at students starting their GCSE in Sociology (suitable for any exam board). The lessons cover the main perspectives in Sociology, giving a brief overview of their theories, including key thinkers. This unit would be suitable for a non-specialist, alternatively it could be used for revision or as a refresher of the basics before an exam/assessment. Please leave a review, email misskwaddington@outlook.com when you have and I will send you any free lesson of your choice.

Introduction to Sociology- Consolidation Lesson (8/8)

(0)
Suitable as an introductory lesson, or a revision lesson before the exams. A cheap lesson as there wasn’t a great deal of teacher input. Students complete their quiz, do keyword bingo and then answer a series of exam questions. I like students to take a question at a time, mark a peers answer and then I live write in the powerpoint as the class create the perfect answer-including literacy! I then print the slides after the lesson and they stick these into their books.

Introduction to Sociology- An Introduction to Marxism (5/8)

A lesson that introduces the key perspective of Marxism. This lesson is part 1 of 2 parts. The idea is for students to imagine themselves as workers, then have the standard deductions taken from their wage. The idea of this task is to get students to see society as Marx did (my students tend to struggle the most with Marxism because they aren’t workers or have a clue about the cost of living.) The lesson then moves on to introduce Marx and Capitalism and Bourgeoise. The next lesson will look at the Proletariat and Marx theory of the need for a revolution. Students will then assess the strengths and weaknesses of this theory. This is a lesson suitable for either an introduction in sociology or as a refresher/revision for students before their GCSE. Suitable for non-specialists or a cover lesson. Leave feedback, email misskwaddington@outlook.com and recieve any single lesson of your choice for free.

The Island (KS3)

A unit of work that sees students shipwrecked on a desert Island. They must create a community, rules, rites of passage and festivals before they are saved. The student workbooklet was photcopied back to back and used throughout. Language used refers to “levels” so will need tweaking.
