Book Description: Role-play is a fun and creative way to engage with children in EYFS, and is fundamental in developing children’s learning and communication skills. This new addition to the 50 Fantastic series is filled with great ways to make the most of play-based learning in your environment. Each activity is linked to children’s interests, and is designed to allow the child to learn, create, communicate, and have fun! Many of the scenarios involve an element of problem solving to encourage team work, and the suggested props and locations are both easily sourced and well-suited to Early Years schools and settings. With a whole host of inspirational ideas with photos to match, this book is the perfect starting point for creating an outstanding role-play environment.

In this 3 minute video I show the teacher config setup and some ideas for using Tux Paint in the classroom.
Tux Paint is completely free software, released as “Open Source” software, under the provisions of the GNU General Public License (GPL). This means you may download it and install it on as many machines as you wish, copy it for friends and family, and give it to your local schools.
In this video I talk about using the Elf on a Shelf story as a stimulus in the classroom for Elf Challenges. I include links to a free PDF of planning and activities linked to the EYFS.
This story I have written about children who find a lost egg and meet different dinosaurs helps teach about colour, pattern, dinosaur names, habitats using rhyme and repetitive phrases.
In this video I talk about a strategy I use on a daily basis to open up a dialogue with the children in my class about their behaviour. This type of questioning can be used effectively during free-flow child initiated times as well as adult led sessions and makes an interaction into a meaningful learning experience. The strategy allows children time to reflect upon their behaviour and support their Personal, Social & Emotional Development.
