A clearly laid out worksheet in which students create their own Hazard Management Plan for a natural hazard of their choice.
This worksheet follows the themes of monitoring, prediciton, planning and protection.
First students chose a hazard, describe it and state its main effects. They then draw a diagram to show how their hazard is monitored. Finnally, they come up with a management plan on what should happen if their hazard occured (e.g. evacuation plans, protecting buildings, education of locals etc.)
Estimated to take 15 - 25 minutes to complete.
Use this worksheet to help students understand the features of buildings which can withstand earthquakes, and those that cannot.
Estimated time fo rcomplete 15 minutes
Space for students to commen on pre-existing structures and what makes the suitable or unsuitable to withstand earthquakes. Then, on the next page, space for students to deisgn their own building in the space provided.
