This lesson works on the skill of retrieval but also allows the children to have some fun with their art skills. children look at some different illustrator styles children read chapters 37-38 of the Land of Roar children learn how to draw dragons (important!) using videos children retrieve key details from the chapter and draw an impression of the scene

This lesson works on the skills of evaluation/explanation Everything you need to teach this lesson is included and good to go apart from an audiobook/copy of reading material (for copyright purposes). To be honest though, you only really need a copy of the book for the teacher reading to the class - most activities have quotes/texts included in the worksheets etc.

This is a year 6 lesson using the prologue of Cogheart, working on the skills of SEQUENCING/SUMMARY/. -children make inferences and predictions using the front cover of the book children discuss some vocabulary from the upcoming chapter read the first chapter of Cogheart children learn about sequencing/summarising and do some as a class children complete some independent sequencing/summarising tasks /questions. These resources will help year 6 students get used to SATS-style questions.
