Hunger games homeostasis - i used this as a group competition (who came up with the best answers/most detail for each scenario). I was in a computer room for this lesson but it could be used after the topic has been taught (if in a lab) or used with books etc. Kids loved it, they were really engaged in it.

Year 8. An introduction to the basics of light. Content - dispersion of light through a prism, translucent, transparent and opaque. Designed for a 45 minute lesson but can be drawn out. The who, what and why of cannabis on the body and legality in 2012. Encourages debates and arguing points of view. No other materials necessary (except for attached videos) open ppt and wait for the fireworks.

My year 10's asked for a revision lesson (x2) on unit P1.3. Most sections that pupils struggle with are contained in this ppt. Humorous and engaging, plenty of activities and clearly written. There are some obvious &'mistakes&'; in some of the calculations to ascertain if pupils are understanding the work. They all said that they found it very useful and funny.
