I regularly use this Semantic Gradient with my EAL students to help enhance and build their vocabulary and language development.
This particular activity is called BIG to SMALL (or small to big). Students are presented with a bank of words (at the top of the activity sheet). Students have to arrange the words according to their size.
This activity can be adapted for other OPPOSITES. E.g. Black and White, Tall and Thin, Up and Down etc. and is a great way to help build your student’s knowledge and interpretation of language.
