I am a primary school teacher with a knack for teaching to the multiple intelligences, particularly the visual learner. My resources are inspired by my experience of teaching different students with unique ways of learning. I love the magic of helping them to make connections in learning. The grades 3-5 are mostly what I cater to, however, I also have some great resources for grades 1 and 2.

Prefix Cards with Definitions Illustrations and Examples. Use these Illustrated Prefix Cards to keep your students engaged in fun activities that reinforce the definition of each prefix and examples of words that take on the meaning of the prefix when it is added to them.
Over two dozen of the most common prefixes are used in these cards, they are: mis, de, a, ab, abs, fore, tri, pre, re, dis, in, dif, semi, micro, ex, un, *im, sub, inter, pro, *im, tele, bi, super, under.
*Note that the prefix 'im-' has two meanings; one is 'into' and the other is 'not', so I have created two separate cards for the prefix 'im-'.
These cards are created in two different sizes. The original set has 8 cards per page and the larger set has 4 cards per page. The small set will save you ink and paper but many teachers have indicated to me that they preferred to have a larger set to make a bulletin board display. So, that's why I added the larger version.

These Martin Luther King Jr. literacy activities has Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous 'I Have a Dream’ speech as the focus of this writing center. These are writing activities are also focused on the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
The first activity is a Q & A trivia about Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, based on a brief biography (included). The trivia questions are presented on the faces of cubes so the kinesthetic students can have fun rolling the cubes to get a question to answer. Verbal/linguistic minded students can make a game of it by answering orally OR introverted students can write the answers out on the color coded answer sheets provided. An answer key is included.
The second activity is focused solely on Martin Luther King Jr.’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech. In this activity, students go on a hunt to find his direct quotes from the speech. They can create an anthology of MLK quotes or write out their favorite quotes on mini placards. These can be put on display as a part of an Martin Luther King Jr. bulletin board display.
For Grades 3-5. 15 Pages.
Use these Prefix + Root word + Suffix cards in many ways. It contains thirty sets of Big Words which are really root words with their matching prefixes and suffixes. These are words like: disagreement, unacceptable, indefinitely, maladjusted, unemployment, disrespectful, etc. The prefixes used are: un, dis, mal, pre, in, re and inter. The suffixes used are: ful, able, ed, ment, ly, and ible.
Ways to use them:
Use the cards as they are (already matched up) in your word walls.
Sorting Game: Cut out each prefix, root word and suffix and group them into three groups - prefixes only, root words only, and suffixes only. Then students can take turns to pull out a root word from the root word pile and match it correctly to a prefix from the prefix pile and to a suffix from the suffix pile.
Say It, Keep It: Use the cards with the prefix + root word + suffix intact for this game. A caller will keep all of the cards in the deck, pick the first card and read the root word out loud (without showing it to the other players). He can ask the others to name either a prefix or suffix that would match the root word. The first player to name it gets to keep the card. Then the caller picks another card and this process is repeated until all of the cards are used up. The player with the most cards wins the game!
These cards are created in two different sizes. The original set has 6 words per page and the larger set has 4 words per page. The small set will save you ink and paper but many teachers have indicated to me that they preferred to have a larger set to make a bulletin board display. So, that's why I added the larger version.
Elapsed Time Rulers! There are many ways to teach elapsed time and over the years I've learned that having a visual time span for the students to follow is the easiest and fastest way for them to understand and map out elapsed time for themselves.
These elapsed time rulers are available in three different time spans:
- 24 hour ruler (from 12:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. to 12:00a.m. again)
- a.m. 12 hour ruler
- p.m. 12 hour ruler
I colour coded them in red and blue; red for the hours (upper half) and blue for the minutes (lower half). Five minute and fifteen minute increments are also shown in blue. Use it like a number line. Count on from the starting time to the completion time of an event. Directions are included.
Teachers can print them on transparent sheets to use with an overhead projector to demonstrate their use. To print them out for the students, use 8.5 x 14 (legal) sized paper to accommodate the full length of the rulers.
Fractions are fun with these colourful fraction dominoes! This game is perfect for enriching fraction lessons and is great as an activity on its own. It has 54 fraction domino cards with 3 doubles and three blanks included.
Print out on card stock paper and cut out cards OR print on regular paper, laminate each sheet then cut out cards using a guillotine. To play, match the numeral fraction to its corresponding shape fraction. For higher grades, equivalent fractions can be matched. Instructions for playing and a game modification for higher students are included.
This bundle has three sets of activity cards. Prefix cards, Suffix Cards, and Word Building Cards for Root Words and their matching prefixes and suffixes. You can use the prefix cards (the 1st card set) to keep your students engaged in fun activities that reinforce the definition of each prefix and examples of words that take on the meaning of the prefix when it is added to them. The prefixes used are: mis, de, a, ab, abs, fore, tri, pre, re, dis, in, dif, semi, micro, ex, un, *im, sub, inter, pro, *im, tele, bi, super, under.
Likewise for the suffix cards (the 2nd card set) ... The suffixes used are: ous, ory, ling, el, fy, ant, able, ible, ness, ence, ive, eer, ier, ess, ment, er, less, et, or, ism, ship, hood, ful and ly.
For the Prefixes and Suffixes Matching Activity (the 3rd card set): Use these Prefix + Root word + Suffix cards in many ways.
