Ants are simple insects with complex lives and evolutional histories. This is the most interesting documentary on ants that explores everything from how they behave, what they do in case of emergencies, what insect they evolved from, the symbiotic relationships they have with other organisms, and more. Your students will never look at ants the same way again after watching the documentary and answering the questions. Many students are surprised to learn that there are scientists who study ants for a living.

You made a smart decision clicking on the Ocean Acidification Poster Project! This poster project has been tried with high schools students in two various schools and it works really well in getting them to research in depth what ocean acidification is. They find it really fun and it puts learning into their own hands.
Students choose from a list of topics or they could choose a topic of their own and they describe how jelly fish, for example, are affected by ocean acidification in the form of an informational poster. This project will take about two class periods for students to work on and one class period to present their posters.

Great for a biochemistry course!
Get your students excited about climate change, methane gas, and pollution with this interesting article and student questions. Students in their day-to-day lives do not think about cows and the possible harms they contribute to the planet. After reading the article and answering the questions, students will never look at cows or order a hamburger the same way again!

A unique way to teach about energy transfer! You will definitely catch students’ interest level with the candle powered car anchoring phenomena. Students are surprised to see that this toy car can be powered by simply lightening a candle. In groups, they model together the different energy transfers and they explain how they believe the car works.
Before students watch the anchoring phenomena video and begin embarking on creating their models, they answer a few do now questions.

Teach students about chemical reactions by having them explore in-depth how alcohol flushing occurs at the molecular level in the form of a poster project.
Students research:
Pharmacokinetics
Alcohol Flush
Students explain:
What causes the red flush in a person’s face when they consume alcohol?
How does the red flush connect to pharmacokinetics?
Students include:
Diagrams detailing how the flushing occurs. Including what is occurring at the molecular level.

On the first day of school, you want to get to know your students better by having them in engage in this brief activity. Begin by telling students to find someone in the classroom to interview. Once all of the students are finished interviewing one another, have them share their responses with the class. This is a great icebreaker activity that I have used with my students in three various schools.
