This massive lesson and supporting resources provide an extremely detailed account of what sound is and some of the science behind how sound propagates and travels through the air. This is a massive bundle of resources, that could easily cover at least 6 to 7 weeks worth of learning, classroom exercises and practical experiments. The main presentation has over 70 slides, with embedded YouTube videos to aid and support learning. Moreover, 3 classroom exercises. Finally, there is really fun ‘general knowledge’ quizzes focusing upon the basics covered throughout the main lesson and last of all 2 excellent experiment worksheets for students to test out and learn about the science of sound first-hand. The main topics covered in detail throughout the presentation and worksheets are: What is Sound, and sound’s movement through the air Types of Waves (Longitudinal & Transverse) Longitudinal & Transverse Compression & rarefaction Propagating Medium Properties of Sound (Objective & Subjective) Frequency Sound’s Velocity/Speed Wavelength Calculating Frequency-Speed-Wavelength of Sound Period/Frequency Calculating Period/Frequency Amplitude (Sound Pressure, Intensity & Power) What are Vector & Scalar Quantities? Waveform & Spectra Overtones and Harmonics What is Timbre The presentation is more than 70 slides, each with an eye-catching design for better student engagement and also linked to classroom tasks that feed in and work along with the presentation. Moreover, throughout the presentation, there are really useful embedded YouTube examples, with links to the videos to support and aid learning. The presentation come in both .pdf and PowerPoint versions, along with a video version that can be used for revision and student home study. Moreover, all elements of the resources have been developed in Google Slides. This can be used for remote learning and easily allow for digital submission of the learning tasks included. The resource also comes with 3 classroom tasks/worksheets (answer sheets included to aid teaching and marking) with extremely useful exercises that link with the presentation/lecture itself, this also comes with separate questions in the form of PowerPoint, and Google Slides. Finally, there is also a great What is Sound Quiz (PowerPoint and Boom Cards, and 2 Classroom experiments for learners to learn about the science behind sound more practically and ‘hands-on’.
