Independence: moving children towards developing their understanding through independent practice. Apply: children answering questions independently in a comprehension exercise covering all aspects of understanding. The planning consists of 30 minute lessons that includes guided practice and activities to explore the different areas of reading that supports children to develop a mental model of what they have read.
