This IB DP Physics sub-topic material covers all key knowledge needed for a given sub-topic. This sub-unit is all about Gas Laws in the IB DP. These materials are aligned to the 2023 syllabus onwards. They are developed by an IB DP Physics teacher who also knew the previous 2016 syllabus as well. While perhaps not the flashiest format, they are consistent and use Microsoft software and PDFs which is readily accessible to almost anyone. They contain Teacher made graphics which show the exact concept to be taught or question to be asked and are all original to The Teaching Astrophysicist.

The Sun provides us with heat, light and most of the energy we get here on Earth, but it has layers of complexity as well as physical layers too. The Sun is a huge ball of plasma and is insanely hot beneath the surface, while the surface is only a mild 5000 degrees centigrade. Since it is so very important to life on Earth, it feels worth learning about with this teaching resource.
The research project template provides the perfect grab and go, print and provide resource that can supplement lessons. It is an project template with questions to check comprehension and inspire scientific thinking. It gives a rich and supportive framework that can be tweaked as needed for students to support differentiation.
Each research project template includes:
Space for a one paragraph summary (that links to the 2 page science article also available on this topic - but does not have to).
Students should produce a mathematical connection, an engineering / technology connection, 2 interesting facts / stats.
5 glossary terms they should fill in with their own words (which also links to the science article also available)
3 thought provoking questions (ie: critical thinking questions) they must answer.
Finally, each template has 3 alternative thought provoking questions for younger students and 3 other alternative harder questions to extend high flying or older students. Giving you a total of 9 possible thought provoking questions that could be used with students to enhance their research and critical thinking.
Further, I have added a 1 page - 20 point rubric to be used for either self-assessment or teacher assessment as you deem fit. I hope it helps support the learning even further!

This is a unit plan for the IB MYP based on sustainable housing that also relates the NGSS and how that can be taught / covered at the same time as teaching this unit.
Students will use research to help them formulate design ideas, which will culminate in a design for a sustainable home (created as a 3D model using software of their choice). A successful final product requires a 3D walkthrough for the client to visualise and understand how the final design works. What features and deisgn considerations make this a sustainable home? Consider broadly all possible aspects of this endeavour, the sourcing of environmentally materials from sustainable sources, consider the market for this house and why people would buy it rather than a traditionally built home? Why are these commercially viable? What other considerations must we make? (Criteria A, B, C & D)
This unit also helps introduce the GRASPS technique to conduct assessments and students to grapple with almost any assessment that comes to them.

The layout of these video companions are that there are both teacher and student versions of all of these documents. The teacher versions contain the solutions and the administrative information. The student versions contain only the questions and spaces for students to fill in the work. They are easy to use and all in PDF form, including one large ‘master file’ so you can see all the content in one broad sweep and see what video companion will work for you and your students easily.

IB DP Physics definition bingo - Grade 11/12. A small set of bingo cards based on IB DP Physics definitions which relate directly to ‘define’ questions in IB exams. Current there are six 4 x 4 cards which could be randomly shuffled or manipulated and a full set of terms with definitions, notes and markscheme pointers.

This story is about Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and his discovery of X-rays. The story is available in 3 Lexile levels (850L, 1050L & 1200L) great for a variety of young readers and it engages them to learn about science through a story rather than yet another YouTube video, but something a bit different and enjoyable for students!
This science story provides the perfect grab and go, print and provide resource that can supplement lessons. It can be used in a variety of ways as mentioned below! Each story includes at least 4 images to bring a bit more entertainment and engagement.
WHY / WHEN TO USE:
You could ask them to summarize it.
Ask students to define key terms in their own words.
Can they connect the story to the modern world? What connections can they see?
How short can they make the story and retain coherence?
Can they make what if this concept or technology was not discovered? What would we lose?
Link to other activities or as a primer to engage with a related topic.
To increase scientific literacy in your class.
A weekly reading task.
Useful for substitute (sub) teaching.
It provides rapid and easy differentiation for different reading levels.
