This is designed for GCSE teaching and includes a range of activities including: matching quotations exercises, creative responses, questions that demand higher level thinking, summaries and notes to advance engagement with the overall structure, both of this scene and this scene in the context of the whole play.

With few revision papers available for use this is another 19th Century Fiction Paper based on the novel 'Lost Hearts' by M R James. the resource includes a mark scheme and indicative content. This extract is a ghostly tale and a good one to use for analysis of tension/setting rather than characterisation. This is a very accessible paper and would be useful practise for both KS3 students doing a 'Supernatural' Unit of work or for KS4 lower ability to build confidence.

This resource is designed to take GCSE students through a detailed analysis of William Wordsworth’s poem in line with the new GCSE (9-1) specifications. It covers context, form, language and structure. This lesson incorporates a number of differentiated activities, in particular stretch and challenge, for the very top end using the Venus and Adonis Myth to secure a grade 8/9.

This powerpoint incorporates all the skills required by the new GCSE specifications and would be appropriate for teaching this text at both KS3 (top end) or KS4. The resource includes challenge tasks, language, form and structure analysis, dramatic tasks, recreations of scene, engaging use of ICT and nods to including Maths in the English curriculum. This is everything you need to teach this section of the play and would take between 7-9 hours to teach in its entirety.

This resource introduces students to a range of language and structural devices required in their Edexcel IGCSE examination, however, this resource is also suited for any teachers looking for an extract on which to practise these skills. Learning is scaffolded through analysis of short phrases and sections from the whole extract to enable students to feel secure in their GCSE level analysis. This resource includes a powerpoint and a homework task so that learning can go beyond the classroom. The tasks are designed so that students gain confidence before attempting individual tasks and the lesson includes talk time and time when students can annotate the text on the whiteboard if you have this facility. My students find these resources hugely helpful in accessing higher grades and have historically done very well in their final exams, approaching them with confidence and a wide range of understanding in regard to methods used. Students are continually prompted to update their records and recall methods to help embed this information in their long term memory. This lesson is an excellent introduction the feminist background and theory, it uses an extract from Charlotte Gilman Perkins 'The Yellow Wallpaper' and leads students through a feminist reading of the text. This lesson includes references and explanations of 'Herstory' and 'L'ecriture Feminine' and proved highly progressive with my year 12 students.

This powerpoint includes detailed contextual information linked to the text. Close analysis of language, form and structure through both ‘given slides’ and task driven learning. This resource also includes a non fiction reading extract for additional background on the use of the word ‘Raven’ so comprises elements of the skills required in the English Language exam. This lesson would work well as an introduction to the poem and a revision lesson. Challenge tasks are threaded throughout. The lesson ends with a ‘comparison quiz’ and revision challenge task.

This resource is challenging through differentiation and equally supports the middle/lower ability learners. This lesson teaches students the STILT(s) acronym for poetry comparison, this could be used to teach comparison skills as well as teaching specific comparison points on these two poems from the Edexcel Relationship Collection. The lesson is challenging and aims to take students grades to the top levels.
