A detailed powerpoint working through each stanza analysing form, language and structure through a combination of given information and activities. Differentiated activities are included in the powerpoint and a supported framework has been included for a typical exam style essay question. This should be everything you need to teach this poem with no need for additional work/slides.

This is the first of several lessons on this new option on GCSE syllabuses. These lessons are differentiated and supported whilst also offering challenge and options to create revision resources in preparation for the final examinations. These lesson would work as well for KS3 groups who need a strengthened syllabus in preparation for the more robust (9-1) specifications as for KS4 students preparing for exams. More lessons to follow shortly.

Following the success of the first resource I created on 'The PIcture of Dorian Gray' I have now created this second resource based on an extract from 'Oliver' by Charles Dickens. It is ideal for use with the Edexcel (9-1) English Language Specification. Due to the shortage of past papers to use in the classroom I have constructed this paper for use by teachers using this specification. The resources includes the extract, questions, mark scheme and indicative content. If you like this resource please do leave a review as am happy to construct more.

An observation standard lesson including lesson plan and all resources to aid the evidence of progression during the lesson. Includes effective use of music (embedded) to aid engagement with the 'tone' contained in this poem. Focusing on 'colour' as a route to thinking about tone is a strategy that transfers easily to studying other poems as Seen or Unseen.

This lesson draws on a wide variety of teaching strategies to engage and focus students with how to analyse poetry. These skills in turn can be used for analysing Unseen Poetry. This lesson is fully differentiated, from learning objectives, to tasks and to outcome plenary. This lesson should take between 2-3 hours to teach and includes a task that crosses over into Imaginative Writing for the Language Paper. I have taught this lesson a number of times and my students always enjoy the ‘finding the answer’ style of this lesson a lot of fun! If you like this, then you’ll love my other Conflict Poetry resources in my Shop.
