My reception class discussed rules and what was ‘fair’ and ‘not fair’ / ‘right’ and ‘wrong’.
We cut out the sentences and matched them to either ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. We discussed each one first and re-wrote them to be fair.
During subtraction week, we carried out 3 activities.
We used the ‘Playdough Smash’ laminated sheet to make blobs of playdough up to 10. Then we used whiteboard pens to write subtraction number sentences. When children took numbers away, they smashed the playdough then counted to see how many were left.
We used the purse and the 10 frame to pay for items in the shop. We started with 10p (1p in each square) the we took pennies away to find out how much we had left.
We used the differentiated worksheets to cross out the objects to see how many were left.

Roll the dice. Then count the dots on the dice. Draw the dots in the middle box. Draw 1 more in the right box. Draw 1 less in the left box. Or write the correct numbers.
To differentiate, children need to use 2 dice and add them together to find the total value. Then find 1 more and 1 less. Or use a foam dice and add your own numbers (e.g 2 -3 digit numbers).
Worksheet 2
Find 1 more and 1 less using a number line.
Queen’s Jubilee
We were learning about money. We linked it to the Queen’s Jubilee.
The children need to match the value of the stamp to the correct postcard.
e.g. Miss West’s stamp is 19p. Can you find 19p? Can you make 10p using coins? How many ways can you make 19p?
We used this in the provision whilst learning about the Jubilee.
Then we wrote our own postcards about what we enjoyed during the Jubilee celebration.
