Test reaction time with ruler worksheet

(31)
Classic reaction time testing with 30cm ruler. Sheet is double-sided. One side has a table to convert centimetres to milliseconds. The other side has two tables for each hand and an empty chart to do a bar chart. Pupils are asked to make predictions and write a conclusion. Video is from Youtube of Drag Racer - Hillary Will showing her reaction time.

Design a Rollercoaster worksheet - GPE & KE

(33)
Work out Gravitational Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy by designing a rollercoaster. Pupils are taken through calculating GPE, KE and final velocity. For a high ability group.

Gravitational Potential & Kinetic Energy Worksheet

(10)
Double-sided activity worksheet to investigate GPE and KE with a pendulum. Requires datalogger and lightgate to measure velocity. For very able pupils, can be completed in an hour. Pendulum is varied in starting height and velocity measured at bottom. Tables on worksheet plus graph to plot.

Puberty - Video & Worksheet

A simple worksheet to go with ‘Body Story - Teen Dreams’ a 45min docudrama about puberty. I’ve used this successfully with a yr7 low-literacy group. Go over what they’ve written as plenary. Great, if you don’t fancy spending an hour hearing yourself talk about wet dreams and hair. VIDEO LINK:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGVPQF03tfI

Make a Biomass Pyramid

(4)
It's a pyramid! They make an actual square base pyramid of biomass. Photocopy onto card. Three faces are blank, one face has an example food chain with number of organisms. Will need full explanantion of what biomass is and how it increases up the pyramid, so as not to get confused with pyramid of numbers.

Investigating Air Resistance Worksheet

(1)
Investigate how surface area and mass affect the time it takes an objects take to fall. Introduces terminal velocity and air resitance. A double-sided worksheet for high ability students. Requires a piece of A4 paper and card, stopwatch and two metre rules plus graph paper. Will take an hour for very able students to complete. Pupils measure the time a piece of A4 paper/card takes to fall 1.5m. Then folded. Worksheet has tables ready to fill in. They will plot a graph of velocity vs surface area (already worked out).
