HUNDREDS OF FOUNDATION GCSE NUMBER PRACTISE QUESTIONS

(0)
Very basic old resource that has been knocking about since the modular GCSE days. Around 20 questions on each number topic at the foundation level. Everything is covered from the four rules to ratio, percentages, lots of fraction work. Nothing fancy just a list of questions to be done (very "10 ticks", but without the clipart!). Can be used as booster material, cover work for a maths department, diagnostic work or consolidation
WHOLE LESSON: MEASURING ANGLE
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: MEASURING ANGLE

(1)
An entire lesson on measuring angles. The starter is a simple differentiated number chain. The powerpoint includes a fully animated protractor and steps on how to use it correctly. The resource that accompanies can be printed to an A4 booklet and should allow a standard school protractor to fit on each angle nicely. The task is differentiated with the easiest angles all being read from the right hand scale. As some students will grasp this quicker I have included a simple coins and totals exercises for those who finish early. Note this lesson does not include measuring reflex angles, as this is rare to examination papers. Perhaps this could be shown in a plenary
WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: CLASSIFY AND ESTIMATE ANGLES

(0)
An entire lesson that gets students to appreciate the different types of angle and estimate their size. The starter is a simple (differentiated) number chain. The power point is fully animated to show how an angle spins around from 0 degrees, passing the key benchmarks of 90, 180 and 270. Students can then estimate the angle. The fully differentiated resource that accompanies this lesson mirrors the board and gives students plenty of support. As this is an activity some students will fly through I have included some bonus differentiated number practise as this will primarily be aimed at foundatio GCSE students who always need the practise!

QUICK FIRE FOUNDATION GCSE BASICS GRID 29 AND 30

(1)
Two different write-on resources which can be used in multiple ways: as a classwork task, homework task, weekly assessment or revision aid in the run up to assessments. There are 18 quick, "must know" questions for low ability foundation GCSE students of any age. There is a section at the foot of the resource for a score and a comment which students can act upon. Using multiple resources will build up a profile of which topics students need to review to enhance their learning. The sheet can be edited to give an infinite number of variations too. Check out the other grids in the series to build a bank of resources! A low ability GCSE class will take around 25 minutes to complete a grid.

Ten number mental starters for GCSE (differentiated)

(1)
Simple powerpoints to start the lesson which reviews number skills that any students working at the foundation level should be able to cope with. Students have 2 minutes to answer as many questions from the "easy" or "hard" section as they can

EDEXCEL OLD SPEC CORE 2 REVISION GRID A

(0)
A quick revision sheet for any student on the legacy course for Edexcel A Level Maths. There are 12 questions that cover pretty much all of the module. Students should be able to answer these quick-fire questions in about 20 minutes if they are ready to tackle the Core2 examination. The powerpoint plays model solutions and can be mailed to students to help them assess their work. Ideal for any student re-sitting from last year
TWO WHOLE LESSONS FOUNDATION nth TERM
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

TWO WHOLE LESSONS FOUNDATION nth TERM

(1)
Two (and perhaps more) lessons on finding the nth term of a linear sequence for foundation students (an +b where a is positive). The starter is differentiated and is simple number patterns. The powerpoint talks through the concept of nth term by likening it to finding numbers behind a numbered door (the term number). In the second lesson the use of the nth term (on the same presentation) is used to generate terms. The spreadsheet contains many fully differentiated tasks (at least 4) which you can select from. Most of them are write on and allow students to get through the work at some pace. There are also multi-choice tasks. The lesson check out can be used at the end of the first lesson to asses the learning
AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 23 and 24 Curve Sketching
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 23 and 24 Curve Sketching

(0)
Two lessons which slowly take students through the basics of curve sketching. The powerpoints show students how to get a hold of the shape of each curve (quadratic, cubic, quartic, reciprocal), the role the sign of the dominant terms plays and the effect of repeated roots (tangency). The powerpoints contain a starter of basic material in the A level course so far and the worksheets are fully differentiated. One of these can easily be used with KS4, the other should only be used for high achievers
AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 22 Transform Curve
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 22 Transform Curve

(0)
One of the topics students find most challenging. The fully animated powerpoint (which contains a 5 minute starte) takes students through the basic transformations of the curve y = f(x). There is a slide which summarises the findings of the lesson and the resource that accompanies the lesson is fully differentiated where students skecth various transformations of given curves and write the names of transformed curves. The resource is write on and students can file their completed work. This lesson can also be used at KS4.

Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

Year 12 A level Mathematics Interim Assessment 2

(0)
This is the second interim assessment which can be given to any class embarking on the new a level spec from 2017 with the Edexcel board. It covers the topics of surds, completing the square and its uses, sketching quadratic curves, linear and quadratic inequalities, algebraic division, factor theorem and sketching a straight line. The assessment itself will last an hour and there is a follow up lesson where students can tackle similar questions. The powerpoint acts as a marck scheme and can be used to assess the piece of work. It can also be played during the feedback lesson to model correct answers for students. Printing it will give students a chance to have a model solution pack to their assessment.
MULTI CHOICE REVISION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

MULTI CHOICE REVISION

(0)
Multi-choice write on resource for any low ability GCSE student, or for younger students who want a quick revision of basic topics. The topics are factors, equivalent fractions, mode, short division, bar charts, function machines, area by counting, fractions of amounts. Easy to print and even easier to mark!
WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION NUMBER SKILLS REVISION
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: FOUNDATION NUMBER SKILLS REVISION

(1)
An entire lesson that covers foundation number elements that students frequently forget: HCF, LCM, BIDMAS, square numbers, four rules of number, powers of numbers. The mental starter is differentiated and is simple number work in context of buying items at a cafe. The powerpoint takes students through the exact questions that they will be tackling in the resource. The last slide shows the first 10 square numbers and prime numbers. The resource is then fully differentiated from 1 star to 3 star with questions based on the content of the slide show. This can be printed out and students write on the resource.
WHOLE LESSON: SIMPLE ESTIMATION OF CALCULATIONS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: SIMPLE ESTIMATION OF CALCULATIONS

(0)
A complete lesson on the basics of trying to estimate the answer to a calculation by rounding the numbers. Ideal for any student working at grades 1,2 or 3. The differentiated starter gets students to round numbers (answers given). The powerpoint then takes them through the skill of estimating and gives real life examples (context). The resource that accompanies the lesson matches what the students have been shown and can be printed for them to write on. There are also 3 bonus worksheets in the file as well. The lesson checkout can be used as a plenary to assess what your students have learned
WHOLE LESSON: DECIMAL PLACE VALUE
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: DECIMAL PLACE VALUE

(0)
An entire lesson that shows students the value of the digits in a decimal number. There is a differentiated starter where students have to recall simple doubles. The powerpoint then shows students which label we attach to which digit. It goes into an extension of converting decimals to fractions if so interested. The fully differentiated resource contains 3 bonus worksheets which can all be printed off and written on by the students
WHOLE LESSON: USES OF NEGATIVE NUMBER
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON: USES OF NEGATIVE NUMBER

(0)
A lesson to introduce negative number and where they arise. The starter is a differentiated student choice mental addition and subtraction exercise where students must work out the missing number in a chain that gives a certain total. The answers are shown on this. The main powerpoint shows an animated use of a number line as a thermometer but also as a height indicator and as profit and loss. The spreadsheet contains multiple resources which you can chose, many of which are differentiated and all of which are write-on so that students do not have to spend tim drawing things
WHOLE LESSON COINS AND TOTALS
Weltmeister7Weltmeister7

WHOLE LESSON COINS AND TOTALS

(0)
A simple but effective lesson designed to brush up on students basic addition and subtraction skills under the backdrop of money. This is based on the old SATS questions where students would be asked to make different combinations of coins that gave a certain total. The powerpoint contains a variety of questions and then the resource has multiple tasks on different sheets that you can use to differentiate. Some are interactive and will change by pressing F9 on the sheet, thus creating an infinite amount of variations. Surprisingly challenging and always relevant.
