AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 1: Basic Manipulation

(0)
This is an entire lesson to get your class used to the levels of the manipulation needed to survive the A level maths course. The powerpoint contains differentiated lesson objectives and examples which are worked through slowly. This can be printed and given to the students. The excel document can be printed off and directed differentiation can let students select the level of work which will challenge them. This is the first in what potentially could be the entire a level course

AS Level 2017 Mathematics Lesson 2: Basic Index Theory

(0)
This is an entire lesson ready to deliver to Year 12 A level mathematicians. The powerpoint has differentiated lesson objectives for your planning and then takes students through the basics of index theory. This is based on the edexcel specification and will allow students to become grounded in the skills that they will need in their studies of calculus. The excel worksheet is then printed and students can be guided to the level of work that they feel most comfortable with.

Year 13 Edexcel Maths Suggested Long Term Plan

(0)
This is the year-long pattern of lessons I have devised to finish the new linear maths course with Edexcel. This assumes that you are delivering 5 lessons per week in a two week cycle using two staff, dividing the course equally. The plans include time for review lessons and an assessment in school at the end of the 10 week module. Feedback would be welcomed.

This is the 9th lesson in the AS course devised by myself. The lesson powerpoint will show students how to solve what appears like challenging equations but, after a simple change of variable, become little simple quadratic equations. This has always been part of the A level specification but is now a formal learning objective in the new scheme. The resource that accompanies the lesson will allow them to practise this new skill. The powerpoint includes a starter and plenary and the resource is directed differentiated. Resources can be printed so that students can have their own files of notes and examples

This is write-on resource which can be used in multiple ways: as a classwork task, homework task, weekly assessment or revision aid in the run up to assessments. There are 18 quick, "must know" questions for low ability foundation GCSE students of any age. There is a section at the foot of the resource for a score and a comment which students can act upon. Using multiple resources will build up a profile of which topics students need to review to enhance their learning. The sheet can be edited to give an infinite number of variations too. Check out the other grids in the series to build a bank of resources! A low ability GCSE class will take around 25 minutes to complete a grid.
