This assembly which was used with a Year 2 class is based on an episode of Wish You Were Here. Flat Stanley travels around the globe reporting on different countries with help from the people he meets on his travels and the cast back in the studio. It includes singing, dancing (performing the Haka!), speaking in french, Kung Fu punctuation and lots of amazing facts!

A collection of resources that are ideal for celebrating a book day. This collection includes resources to make a Matilda themed book door where children create the covers of their favourite books, templates for making marvellous medicine, designing a new chocolate bar, filling a dream jar, making a door hanger and character/book crowns to let reading go to your head! Also included: a book scavenger hunt, a guess who game, blank comic strips and a solve the story task. Last book day I held a ‘Short & Tweet’ writing competition which was very popular and very amusing too - template and certificates included!

What is a dragon? A PowerPoint all about dragons to stimulate writing with dragon images for ‘Quickwrite’ adjective activity. After sharing this introduction the children designed their own dragons, named them and then we watched ‘How to train a dragon featurette’. The children then wrote instructions on how to train their own dragons and we ended the unit of work by writing acrostic dragon poems. This pack includes: labelling a flower/tree, bean tweet sheets (to record observations when growing own beans), I spy plants for identifying/naming common plants, mystery objects task, Gimme 5 hand for identifying the needs of a plant, egg box challenge scavenger hunt (stick the challenge sheet to the lid of the egg box and let the children fill their box with objects to match the key words) and Teeny Tiny Treasure Hunt (using film canisters or an alternative small container), botany challenge for children to design and label their own new species of plant, seed packet templates and a selection of science starters to promote the use of children talking and reasoning scientifically.
