The scheme caters for a high ability class and is challenging in areas. Students will need copies of the novel. This set of lessons is taken from the full KS3 Chaucer Tales scheme which can be found in my shop: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/reaton290. However, these 6 lessons could be used as a mini scheme to introduce KS3 students to the history of the English Language. This activity sheet contains several key quotations for the theme of responsibility. The first section is a close activity which allows students to remember the key words from each quote. The students can then go on to analyse the word taken from each quote and how this demonstrates the theme of responsibility.

A series of lessons that look at the treatment of Ariel and how he/she would feel after the treatment from Prospero. The visual PPT is fully planned with engaging starters and development activities. These lessons are used before leading on to a comparison of how Ariel and Prospero converse with one another. I have also uploaded lessons to my TES shop to begin this scheme; these lessons explore the context of the play and audience's expectations as well as linking the text to 19th Century and 21st Century non-fiction texts (AQA new specification). This lesson was created for a high ability year 7 class. I have included the new English Literature AQA Assessment Objectives in order to expose the students to the objectives early on. The lesson starts by looking at expectations of your first day at school and then a look at the opening lines (this section is differentiated). The reading section has a prompt question and then the worksheet attached includes the AO1 questions.
