This lesson has been taken from the KS3 unit on 'War and Conflict' which will be available on my shop. The lesson has clear AOs that link to the new 2017 GCSE in order to focus and challenge students. The lesson explores: - His background/history - Extracts from his letters home - The significance of the titles of his poems - Extracts from his poetry - Annotations of a poem (differentiated) - Opportunity for extended analysis

This resource pack includes a full lesson(s) on how to analyse a key extract. This skill is now applicable for the new specification GCSE so it is important that KS3 learners are embedding this learning early on. I have found that this lesson worked well with a year 9 class, so it can be used for high ability KS3 learners. However, I have also found it could work as part of Paper 1A as a practice extract.

This lesson explores the shared sonnet and asks students to analyse the language used. Links to the WJEC reading paper are also made.

A differentiated set of worksheets for students to complete as they analyse a key extract from Act 2:2. The students then discuss Romeo in the rest of the play using key quotations. Each box has a specific AO in reference to the mark scheme.

This lesson was created for a high ability year 7 class. I have included the new English Literature AQA Assessment Objectives in order to expose the students to the objectives early on. The lesson starts by looking at expectations of your first day at school and then a look at the opening lines (this section is differentiated). The reading section has a prompt question and then the worksheet attached includes the AO1 questions.

A pack I have put together for GCSE students studying for the new 2017 exam that is closed book. Explores key characters, key quotes, writer's techniques, exam questions. This resource can be adapted for any text or any exam board. This resource is meant to encourage students to revise.

This lesson explores Shakespeare's forms as it looks at his other sonnets and their structure. A challenging lesson but allows students to focus on form and structure as well as language, which will move them into the top band of the mark scheme. Students then analyse the language in the prologue and construct their own GCSE style question before attempting to answer.

I made this lesson for my year 7 high ability class but it could be adapted for a low ability GCSE class studying the text for the new GCSE.
