TWITTER - SHAKESPEARE'S TWEET OF THE WEEK - DISPLAY
A display that I change weekly with Shakespeare's 'Tweet of the Week'. There are 14 slides so there are enough slides to last a full term. I have also attached a 'Trending This Week' display I change on a weekly basis to go alongside on a Twitter display board.
NEW GCSE - Lesson from 9-1 Scheme - An Extract and The Friar - Act 2 Romeo and Juliet
Two lessons that explore model paragraphs responding to an extract from Act 2:2 and a lesson that looks at the role of the friar in Act 2:3. Also explores the theme of age V youth and has an opportunity for hot seating.
NEW GCSE - Lesson from 9-1 Scheme - Shared Sonnet - Act1:5 - Romeo and Juliet
This lesson explores the shared sonnet and asks students to analyse the language used. Links to the WJEC reading paper are also made.
NEW GCSE - Lesson from 9-1 Scheme - Treattment of women - Act1:2 - Romeo and Juliet

NEW GCSE 9-1 ENGLISH LITERATURE AO1/AO2/AO3 EXTRACT ANALYSIS
This lesson was used for a high ability year 9 class who are learning how to analyse an extract in the style of the new GCSE exam. I have attached a model response along with a differentiated extract for analysis.
NEW AQA GCSE - AO2 LANGUAGE - OF MICE AND MEN ANALYSIS EXTRACT
This lesson was used with year 9 and includes assessment objectives linked to the new AQA GCSE. The students will need the novel and will need to focus on the opening section from part 2.
NEW GCSE AQA 9-1OF MICE AND MEN SCHEME - PART ONE
Lessons based around part one of the novel Of Mice and Men used with a year 9 class. Focuses on context, predictions, setting and the relationship between George and Lennie.
NEW GCSE 9-1 WJEC ENGLISH LIT. - DEVELOPING RESPONSES
A table map I used to help students develop their responses to a literature text in order to move their responses up. Can be adapted for any text/question.
Differentiated KS3/WJEC lesson on Anne Frank's diary - language analysis
This lesson was used to teach the features of diary writing whilst still incorporating language skills from the new GCSE specification.
GCSE AQA/WJEC 9-1 An Inspector Calls revision game
Full lesson. Revision on the full play of An Inspector Calls. Used with new specification and I also used an extract from the play for later analysis (the slides are also included here).
The rules are as follows:
- Give each team a copy of the board and a copy of each slide.
- The students roll two dice and use a number on each to move across and upward until they land on a square.
- Discuss as a team and try to reach a valid conclusion.
- I also had my students making notes as they played.

A lesson that asks students to look at both characters and link them to context.
