I use this as a listening assessment for Year 9. It uses two Bond clips. The first asks questions about a scene (youtube link is on the worksheet) and the second is Skyfall by Adele. Suggested NC level boundaries are on the answers page.
Rock music
This presentation shows two lessons I have developed to introduce Year 9 to rock music using Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams. It's designed as a small part of a larger topic on popular music but could be extended to give students more time to prepare. It features three differentiated challenges for students to select with different key questions. The final two slides I copy onto A5 cards to support students who want to perform the chords on guitar.
This works well with all the many performing resources for Boulevard of Broken Dreams that are already out there!

It splits up the text from AQA using subtitles and has empty boxes for students to fill in, identifying the track each technique was used in and what it sounds like. This could be set as a homework task or used in a cover lesson.

Titles of the pieces and timings are included although the listening tracks themselves will need to be found via Youtube / Spotify or another platform.
Notation and key words handout
I give this to Year 7 as an A5 handout when they start writing down their compositions. I find it useful for the pupils who need help remembering where the notes are, but also to help the students who want to add dynamics and tempo markings.
