Sight Words
Sight Words: Did you ever wonder whether your chosen sight words were considered under the category Dolch, Fry or Fountas and Pinnell? Well here is a comparison table just for you. The first 400 words of Dolch’s list are compared to Fry’s Instant words and F&P’s high frequency words. This is handy for all teachers as an easy tool to organize your sight words especially if you need to tweak your existing pool of sight words to reflect the spectrum.
FANBOYS
Join words phrases and clauses using the coordinators (mnemonic FANBOYS). Students can use these posters to help memorize coordinating conjunctions so that they will not forget them! They are:
F = for
A = and
N = nor
B = but
O = or
Y = yet
S = so
Each poster bears the coordinating conjunction with an illustration of a boy (named) and an example for easy reference. These are great for bulletin boards or literacy centers all through the year.
This set includes posters ONLY!
Check my store for other conjunction resources.

TIPS: To ensure that every child has an opportunity and responsibility assign two students per job. This also encourages job-sharing or working together as a partnership. You can either designate the jobs to students, have them choose or apply for a position A good idea is to rotate the jobs either daily, weekly, or quarterly, it’s your choice. You can make the transitions easier by having a “training” session by the previous student to help the next student to do the job efficiently.
If you want your students to become responsible while building a community spirit, give them responsibilities. Classroom Jobs are a great way for students to take responsibility for their classroom.
Fiction vs Nonfiction
This resource contains four colored posters that make a fantastic visual for fiction and nonfiction for very young learners. These posters can be displayed in your literacy centers, writing workshop area or your classroom library. These posters are simple definitions for fiction and nonfiction and I suggest that it can be a great way to start your literary genre units. Simply print them poster size and laminate or cover with plastic so that you would be able to have them all year through and from year to year.

The following are different ways of using classroom posters:
They can be printed standard size (8.5x11 inches) and binded into a booklet as a study resource for students as an individual or small group activity.
As anchor charts
They can be used as reference books for small group use. Simply print and slide pages in sheet protectors to compile a binder or folder document.
They can be used as individual reference charts. Simply print the black-line version (if available) onto colored paper for students to stick in their notebooks or interactive journals.
The vowel digraphs depicted are only those that can be explained using the rhyme “When two vowels go walking, sometimes, the first one does the talking.” These are:-
ai
ay
ea
ee
ie
oa
ue
These are ready for you to print out, place on your word wall as an easy reference for your students. Also included are blackline versions and a notebook version in black and white.
