As a teacher, I love to keep the students engaged and excited about what they are learning. I try to make each lesson one that I am excited about teaching, and one that if I were a student in my class, would be enthusiastic about learning. I try to keep a hands-on approach to the lessons that I create, while integrating technology as well as crafty ideas to keep the students excited.

Students will love practicing naming fractions on a number line with this fun scavenger hunt. There are 24 cards in the set. Cut apart and scatter these fraction cards around your classroom. Have students quietly walk around your room with the recording sheet and write the fraction displayed on each number line. Students struggling with the fractional parts of the number lines can find a hint at the bottom of each card detailing the parts each number line is sectioned.

Looking for a fun way to introduce or review equivalent fractions in third or fourth grade? Have partners play Equivalent Fraction Match Up!
Students take turns flipping over pairs of fraction cards. When they collect two equivalent fractions, they write them on the recording sheet and draw again. The students with the most equivalent fraction matches wins! This game integrates equivalent fractions on a number line, fractions on a ruler (to the fourth of an inch), and fractions of geometric figures. Also, the clip art is all original!
