This DETAILED 15 DAY UNIT covers the ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN. Beautiful illustrations, artwork, and photographs are used as examples; however, 90% of the examples are photographs. This unit can be used in any course; It is divided into two sections: the ELEMENTS of design and the PRINCIPLES of design. I have been using this activity in my Photography and English courses.
Each section has a detailed HANDOUT WITH DEFINITIONS AND ILLUSTRATIONS, a PowerPoint that accompanies the handout. This POWER POINT WITH ARTWORK AND PHOTOGRAPHS can be used to demonstrate each principle and element of design. There is an APPLICATION ACTIVITY that allows the students to examine photographs, identify the elements and principles of design, and label them. This activity can be used as group work or an individual assignment. And. There is a DETAILED ANSWER KEY. This unit also includes a specific PROJECT WITH SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS AND A RUBRIC.
