Impact of language to describe Character Black Powder
This is a lesson looking at the way the author has built character in the text Black Powder. Some of the ideas have been taken from training but not around the text. The lesson has been put together myself.
Black Powder context character lesson.
This is a context lesson to the novel Black powder. It has a match up activity where the pupils can learn more about the historical and social history of the time. There is a focus on character for this lesson.
Some aspects of the lesson are linked to online videos and the information is taken from books so these are not my work. However, the lesson as a whole has been put together by myself. I do not claim any of the factual information is my own work.

This is a lesson where clues/ fed in facts allow children to understand the context of the book.
The Nowhere Emporium Chapter 1 and 2. Words in context.
This is a short comprehension on chapter 1 and 2 based around the content domain words in context.
It may be a good starting point for someone.
Nowhere Emporium Comprehension Prologue KS2
Here are a set of questions based on the prologue for the Nowhere Emporium. They are all based on the reading domain Questions- 2d explain how the author selects words and phrases to enhance meaning.
This chapter links well with the Greatest Showman. This reading led on to pupils writing the opening of the Circus using clips from the film.

Content Domain planning sheets
These are a planning tool to help support reading. They break the content domains into key skills children can use when they are reading(Success criteria). They highlight the key vocabulary children need to know to answer question relating to them.
Key question stems are taken from past SATS papers(these question stems are not my own and I give full credit to the person, who created them )
However, all other aspects of the resource are my own work.
Tube map- reading for pleasure.
To promote reading for pleasure. Each child has a tube map with their library bar code, name and class on.
They also have a tube map with “lines” to follow. Each line has a range of books to read. They also have a theme and these are different for each year group.
Once the child has completed a line, you may want to reward them. Posters are included of the author and title of the book for each year group.
