My Y1 class use these red word cards almost every in their writing to support with independent writing. Best used once modelled, looking for the first letter of the word.
Print double-sided, two slides per page to achieve back to back printing.
Table reminder for children who struggle to use their fiddle toy for fiddling!
Best used for children who like to give it to their friends, throw it, break it or put it in their mouth.
The table reminder gives them 3 warnings, warnings can be rubbed off if they are following the reminders positively.
This social story is used to be edited by a class teacher or year group lead to support a child who is finding it difficult not being chosen by the teacher to answer a question and being picked by a person.
Best used at home and in school after an emotional outburst. Helpful if child can read it themselves.
Sharing these stepping stones I made for my Year 1 classroom. I stuck them on the floor just outside the door and leading up to their coat pegs. Every time the pupils enter the classroom, they must step on the stone and say the sound.
If they are unsure of the sound, the teacher or TA would say it for them and ask them to repeat it back to pass to the next stone.
They really enjoyed the movement activity and were able to continually practice their sounds.

Are your children finding it difficult to think of creative adjectives to include in their writing?
Do you find it hard to find time to teach synonyms for common words like big, small, happy, good, yummy?
Download this resource to create your own BANISH BORING WORDS display to support your children in choosing creative alternatives in their writing.
This free word bank is perfect for an ongoing working wall. Pupils can add their own words when you learn/teach new vocabulary, you can swap out words depending on the relevance or key stage and you can keep your display up all year round!
This display is influenced by the book ‘Banish Boring Words’ by Leilen Shelton which you can find online.
Pupils in my class love to shout, ‘BANISH BORING WORDS’ when we find a new synonym for a word on the wall.
All you need to do is laminate some white A3/A4 sheets of paper to allow you a space to use a whiteboard marker to record the vocabulary.
