BTEC Applied Science. Unit 1: Cell Specialisation Illustrated Notebook

(4)
For BTEC level 3 Applied Science unit 1: Prinicples and Applications 1 - Biology This 8-page illustrated notebook on cell specialisation is available in both printable and editable PDF to allow for choice and comes with a completed version. I have also included a self-test version where students can fill in a page then click the link at the bottom of the page to check the answer. Research has proven that students learn best when notes are written in their own words. This is partly because students have to think more clearly about the topic when they have to put it into words which they would not do if they copy from a PowerPoint. It is also because they are more likely to understand it later if it is in their own words. This notebook encourages students to write their own notes whilst guiding them on what to write the notes about. It is designed to be used alongside other learning activities about the topic. It can also be used as a revision aid where students can try to complete the pages from memory – the self-test version is ideal for this purpose. Research has also highlighted the effectiveness of dual coding to aid student understanding and recall. This notebook makes maximum use of dual coding with the use of high-quality illustrations. Completed notebook included in the resource. The cell specialisation notebook covers the requirements of B2 includes: • The need for specialisation in multicellular organisms • The differences in stem cells between animals and plants • Root hair cells • Palisade mesophyll cells • Sperm cells • Egg cells • Red blood cells • White blood cells – neutrophils and lymphocytes • Test your knowledge page There are four other illustrated notebooks for this unit: Cell structure and function Cell specialisation Epithelial and endothelial tissue Muscular tissue Nervous tissue
