These illustrated revision notebooks break each topic into bite-sized chunks and includes a lot of illustrations to help your students understand the topic. Your students will fill in text boxes and label diagrams to help understand each topic. You can easily check how much they have understood with a quick scan through. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE BUNDLE? Designed for BTEC level 3 Health and Social Care unit 3: Anatomy and Physiology. This 30-page knowledge organiser comes as a PDF to use for revision for the unit. It is designed to include only the essential information and so would suit students who feel overwhelmed by the amount of information they need to revise for this exam. More detailed information is available on the BTEC level 3 Health and Social Care Anatomy and Physiology Illustrated Revision Notebook Bundle. Where possible, just one page is used per topic. However, a number of the systems require more than one page up to a maximum of 3 pages. The resource also includes a PowerPoint slide with the information covered. Students can check their memory on the specific aspects and then click on the boxes to reveal the answers. I have also added a revision checker so that students can tick a box each time they have tested their knowledge on a particular topic.

For BTEC Applied Science Unit 1: Principles and Applications 1 (Biology). Four revision games to cover the nervous tissue section of B3 of specification. Get your students to learn while they are having fun. Included in the resource: NERVOUS TISSUE QUIZ The quiz, which can be printed or completed on editable PDF, includes an answer sheet to save you valuable time. There are four rounds – • Picture round where students must identify 8 pictures relating to nervous tissue. • Resting and action potential round which consists of 10 short answer questions on action and resting potentials. • Synapses round which consists of 10 questions on structure and function of synapses. • Neurotransmitter round which consists of 8 questions on types of neurotransmitter and how specific drugs affect the actions of neurotransmitters. NERVOUS TISSUE WHEEL OF FORTUNE Can be played individually or as part of a team. The game consists of 30 questions (answers included). The question cards should be printed out double sided and cut out. They are then placed number side up. Spin the wheel of fortune to identify which question should be turned over. It is up to you to decide whether the question has been answered fully enough. If the answer is correct turn it over. If the wheel picks a question that has already been answered that student or team is let off this time. This game makes an ideal revision session for this topic. NERVOUS TISSUE BINGO Students love a game of bingo. But while they are having fun trying to get a line or a full house, why not help them revise nervous tissue by asking them a question for each of the 20 key words rather than just giving them the words. Includes 30 unique bingo cards. Answers to questions included. Remember not to print double-sided! NERVOUS TISSUE JEOPARDY Ideal for teams. MUSCLE TISSUE CODEWORD An ideal game for small groups to encourage discussion. Or it can be done individually if preferred. There are three levels of difficulty where students must match questions to answers, put them in order and then convert the code on each question and each answer card to reveal a word that relates to muscle tissue. Level 1 – reveal a six-letter word. Level 2 – reveal a ten-letter word. Level 3 – reveal a twenty-letter phrase. Answer sheet included. MUSCLE TISSUE WORDSEARCH Print out the 22 x 22 letter grid and find the 20 words relating to muscle tissue. To make it more challenging the words are not given, just a clue to each one. Give your students points if they answer the questions correctly. Gradually reveal the picture beneath the tiles for bonus points. The picture is relevant to the topic of epithelial tissue. Included in the resource: CELL SPECIALISATION QUIZ The quiz, which can be printed or completed on editable PDF, includes an answer sheet to save you valuable time. There are four rounds – • Picture round where students must identify 8 pictures showing structures found in specialised cells. • Reproductive cell round which consists of 10 short answer questions on how egg and sperm cells are specialised to their function. • Plant cell round which consists of 10 questions on the specialisations of palisade mesophyll and root hair cells. • Blood cell specialisation round which consists of 8 questions on how red blood cells, neutrophils and B and T lymphocytes are specialised to their function. CELL SPECIALISATION BLOCKBUSTERS The game is ideal for two teams and is played on PowerPoint. There are 25 letter tiles (some with more than one letter) each with a question attached. Answer sheet available and arranged in alphabetical order to make it as easy as possible for you. If a team gets an answer correct click on their coloured band on the appropriate tile to change the whole tile to that team colour. If the answer is wrong, the other team might be able to answer it. White team must aim to create a path between the top and bottom of the grid – connecting white to white. The blue team must aim to create a path across the grid from one side to the other – connecting blue to blue. TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE A PowerPoint game which can be carried out as a team or students can write down their answers individually. Each slide has a main topic written at the top and three statements about that topic. Students must identify which of the three statements is untrue. They can write their answers on a piece of paper and you can move onto the next slide. Reveal whether each statement is a lie or the truth by clicking on it. Remember students need to identify the lie. CELL SPECIALISATION MAZE Another team game. Team A must get from their staring position to the central star and Team B will have a different starting position. First team to the star wins (or you can give a certain number of points for the star and one mark each for a correct answer and decide who wins based on score). To open a gate, click on the gate and answer the associated question. Answers are included in the PowerPoint. If the answer is wrong click on the red band that is revealed when you return to the game slide. The gate will now stay shut and an alternative route must be found. For BTEC Applied Science Unit 1: Principles and Applications 1 (Biology) covering B1 of the specification. The resource consists of four games so your students can have fun while they revise. They will also provide you will valuable information on how much they know, understand and remember. The resource includes: CELL STRUCTURE QUIZ The quiz, which can be printed or completed on editable PDF, includes an answer sheet to save you valuable time. There are four rounds – • Picture round where students must identify 8 pictures which are organelles or other parts of cells. • Eukaryote round which consists of 10 short answer questions on the structure of eukaryotic cells. • Magnification round which consists of 10 questions on how to covert from one measurement to another and how to calculate magnification, image or actual size. • Prokaryote round which consists of 6 questions on the structure of prokaryotes. CELLS CATCHPHRASE Includes 20 questions (answer sheet included). Give your students points if they answer the questions correctly. Gradually reveal the picture beneath the tiles for bonus points. The picture is relevant to the topic of cell structure. GUESS WHO This game can be played in teams using the PowerPoint or can be printed for students to play in smaller groups. Each team/student will be given one of the organelles on the pictures and the other team/student must ask questions to eliminate option. They are not allowed to specifically ask if it is a particular picture. Instead, they must ask questions based on the features of the object. For example, asking if it is a cell will distinguish between the four organelles and the four types of cell. CELLS MATCHING PAIRS This game can be done with the whole class in teams using the PowerPoint. There are 12 pictures with 12 matching descriptions, all randomly placed on the grid. Students must reveal two tiles, decide if they match or not. If not, they must remember their positions so that they can match them later. Recover the tiles by clicking on them.
