I have been a teacher for over 20 years - all the stuff I upload has been tried and tested in my classroom. I don't mind a discussion on Twitter too where I also share new resources. I now have a personal website: https://andylutwyche.com/

GSCE Maths: Worksheet The Cost of Fuel

(1)
I found a graph on the BBC News website showing the breakdown of the cost of fuel in Britain and thought that the students could calculate the percentage of each cost from the price of one litre.

Cartoon Linear Graphs - KS3/KS4

Cartoon Linear Graphs: Get from one character to their sidekick and tell name the line upon which they've just travelled in the graph. An attempt to make linear graphs a bit more interesting.

Solving Problems - Explain Yourself!

(1)
I wrote this for students who aren't that keen on algebra, so have interspersed some relatively easy numerical problems with similar algebraic problems, getting them to write down their thought process to solve them. The ultimate aim is to show the students that the equations are just like the numerical problems.

QR Code Defuse The Bomb - Angles

(1)
Three sheets varying from basic up to difficult. Angles 1 - lines, around a point, triangles. Angles 2 - parallel lines, polygons. Angles 3 - circle theorems. Each QR code links to a song where the band or song contains either a number or colour and they must find the final code. Could lead onto questioning and explanations as to how they arrived at their answer.

Circles (Circumference and Area) Codbreaker

Here’s another one; answer the questions and reveal a rather nice fish-related pun. This involves circumference and area of circles, including fractions of circles at the end. Ideal for classroom, online or homework activities.

QR Code Puzzle 3 - Number Facts

I got this idea from DaveGale (thanks by the way!) and the QR Code links to a video of Homer Simpson on YouTube. I used the website qrstuff.com to generate the original code then deleted some bits so that the kids needed to answer the questions correctly etc. It gives them a real reason to have their phone out too!

Scrat Maths - Circles and Units

Scrat is the sabre-toothed squirrel in the Ice Age films. Watch the video and answer the questions on areas of circles and units of measurement. This is designed as either a starter or plenary. Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etKCHLgW_o0) now on the powerpoint.

Bisectors

No real imagination here, just a quick worksheet to stop the students bisecting a horizontal or vertical and bisecting a right angle. Don't expect anything fancy people...
