A KS3 History lesson looking at relationships between the Native Americans and the English Settlers. Taught as part of a British Empire SOW. Originally taught to a mixed ability year 8 class but could be used across KS3. The lesson includes a source activity, Disney Pocahontas activity and storyboard activity. Students particularly enjoyed discussing how accurate the Disney portrayal of Pocahontas was. Fully resourced.
Truman: Right or Wrong?
A KS3 History lesson that was part of a World War Two SOW. Students investigate whether President Truman was right to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They look at a variety of sources of evidence including reconstruction videos, witness statements and photographic evidence. The task is completed in groups and and the final activity requires students to come to an overall decision - was Truman right or wrong? Fully resourced.
The Life of Ned Kelly
A KS3 History lesson on the life of Ned Kelly. Included as part of a significant individuals SOW. The lesson includes an enquiry task starter, a video clip and a card sort activity. The final activity is a decision making exercise on whether Ned Kelly deserved the death penalty. Fully resourced.
