(1)
A massive collection of 116 puzzles for display on interactive whiteboards! These puzzles encourage lateral thinking and "thinking-outside-the-box" and are not really targeted at any specific year group. Volume 1 contains relatively easy puzzles so they could be used by a variety of age and ability groups from Year 5 all the way up to Year 11 as lesson starters or lesson ends, or a quick break from the rest of the lesson. Have used them for years with my own classes and they are very popular! Have updated them for amore modern look. Ideal for maths lesson as logical thinking is encouraged but could be used by teacher's of any subject. All sorts of puzzles are included involving coins, words, logic, matchsticks, sequences, trick questions, maths magic, physical and shape puzzles. Start the PowerPoint and choose your puzzle ! 116 puzzles mean there are enough for three per week for the whole school academic year! (HINT:- It may be helpful to use the coin and matchstick puzzles without the PowerPoint being run, because then students can drag and move the coins / matchsticks around on the interactive whiteboard! Enjoy..!

Shape and Number Properties - Reasoning and Questioning Game - Guess What!

(0)
Remember the classic children's game Guess Who? Well this is Guess What! Designed to support and encourage childrens' mathematical reasoning and verbal questioning through playing a game. There are two versions - the shape game and the numbers game. The teacher chooses a shape or number and secretly writes this down on a piece of paper which is hidden from the children. Children then have to ask mathematical questions to eliminate shapes / numbers to ultimately guess the teacher's shape / number. Only questions with "yes" or "no" answers can be asked. E.g. Is your shape 3D? Does you shape have any curved edges? Does your shape have any equal sides? etc. Suitable for aged 9-14 children. Children can play whole class versus the teacher or in pairs in their book (to do this they just need to draw a 6 by 4 square grid in their books to correspond with the game board projected on the whiteboard! Lots of fun for children to enjoy their maths learning.

Number Skills Maths Strategy Game - Zombie Edition

(0)
A deadly virus is sweeping Mathland and turning people in to Zombies. Which ever team has the Virus Cure when the Infected Zombie Value reaches 100, wins. Plan your strategy carefully and use the spooky character cards with special powers (in the form of maths operations) wisely. Characters include Frankie, The Mummy, The Pump King, Warty Witch, The Count, Dr Egg Head, Scary Spider, Zombie Dude, Devil Ghost, Knight Bones and Boo Boo. The Special Monster Maths Power cards allow you to practice rounding to the nearest 10, square numbers, prime numbers, adding and subtracting and work with place value digits, whilst gaining control of the all important Virus Cure card for your team. For an extra challenge there are 3 extra versions of the board to play - the prime number game board, the square number game board and the negative numbers edition whose board spans from -49 to 50. The class teacher can help all teams keep track of the Infected Zombie value by annotating the provided game board on the interactive whiteboard. There is a Powerpoint version to display which will help all teams decide their tactics and play their next card. Do they steal the Virus Cure now? Or wait until later in the game? But by then will it be too late? Will another team play a better strategy? Simply print out and laminate the game cards if the deck of cards is to be used year after year, but well worth it as children aged 8 - 15 will love using their basic maths skills whilst having fun! Even older students enjoy the strategic and fast paced team game along with the funky branding. Guaranteed satisfaction any time of term if studying rounding, prime, square or negative numbers or for end of term fun. There is also a Christmas Edition and Super Heroes Edition of this game.

Generate great discussion and lots of opportunities for questioning, with this lesson designed to target common misconceptions for the topic of Area and Perimeter. Each slide has a question with 3 possible answers. Sometimes one or two are correct, sometimes none. The lesson is based around a discussion of, - Who is correct? - What have the others done wrong? Pupils need to work together in pairs or teams and just need a whiteboard/paper to make notes. This makes for some really interesting discussion and this lesson has been used for teaching training purposes as it really highlights pupils thinking on the topic and the common misconceptions. Just reassure them that it’s OK to make mistakes and learn from them! Suitable upper for KS2/KS3

Brighten up SATs revision with this great fun alternative to past papers! This Swash-buckling board game involves pupils moving around the board and answering past SATs questions in order to win treasure. This pack includes the board, the rules and 32 SATs question cards with answers (you could also add your own cards by using SATs papers in the future). The last page also invites pupils to invent their own game for the students to revise with the following year (but of course they must provide answers to the questions they set!) To play you will need to cut up the question cards (I suggest laminating them for future use) and print the board in colour for each team. I usually let the rest of the team decide if the question has been answered correctly (that way they all have to work it out!) but there is an answer sheet provided for checking if they are not sure.
