This Powerpoint has details of the SDME, exam strategy, sustainability, lots of use of past papers/lesson ideas. My students do very well in this exam. The Powerpoint isn't the most organised/slick but you can adapt it to make a few strong lessons for the SDME. The one I focus on is building up the skills over time gradually in the lesson in groups/pairs and then the following lesson approaching the 16 marker which is then peer marked.
It would be useful to buy my SDME booklet with this resource!
This ppt includes all of the lesson material for this part of the spec - It took me 6 or 7 lessons, though it could take up to 8 lessons for lower ability pupils.
I am the HoD in a top performing state school. I also run a PGCE Geography in a local university.
I also used the Teachit Natural Hazards pack alongside my own resources (free online).
Each lesson starts with a spec outline and includes learning objectives, starter activities, skills work and lesson activities as well as links to video clips. There are also exam questions.
The worksheet resources are also available for sale on Tes should you wish to purchase them to support the lesson presentation.
I have written notes below the slides to aid your teaching.
This is a 25 page booklet which I have pasted various resources I have used to teach the Changing Places unit.
It includes:
Relationships and Connection 'Exploring our place' activity for computer lessons x 2 or homeworks. You will need to adapt to the name of your local place.
Homework to collect quantitative and qualitative source and then accompanying lesson activity using a mark scheme to prepare for an exam Q.
Information from the AQA board from the Head of Curriculum for Geography answering 12 questions about relationships and connections - this is particularly enlightening!
Changing places revision grid for all content to fill in electronically ideally, or perhaps as a group on a
Google doc (will need to be adapted to your case study names)
Homework on Endogenous and Endogenous factors - could be a lesson instead: 1. How do endogenous and exogenous factors contribute to the character of places? [10]
Changing Places quiz out of 67! with answers- mostly in round 1 and 2 but will need to adapt round 3 and bonus round
Some slides on lived experience leading to a 20 mark essay grid to complete the new SAM 20 marker from paper 2.
Place Attachment comprehension reading and questions.
I have made a ppt with lots of links and info to help you make a good start on the GEOG 4b AIB this year.
There are 26 slides. This includes a slide of links to clips and newspaper articles focusing on Niger for Item 7.
I created this assembly (could also be used as a lesson) to tackle homophobic bullying in our school. It re-educated pupils about what it means to be LGBT, the history of LGBT since 1967 when homosexuality was decriminalised, the use of the word ‘gay’ today and other homophobic language, statistics about LGBT students and bullying, impacts of bullying on the victim etc and includes clips and resources from the Stonewall campaign. It includes a page about how sexuality is only one part of a person’s identity.
There is a script accompanying each slide for you to read out.
I would estimate that this would last around 30 minutes without discussion. If used as a classroom teaching resource it could easily last a full lesson.
I got really good feedback from this from leadership, teachers and pupils…I hope you enjoy it - please do leave a review if you have time!
There is one page you will have to edit to give details of your own local LGBT/ bullying services.
Topic booklet and all resources for AQA 9-1 Changing Economic World -Economic Futures in the UK (p22 of specification). Also includes The DTM and Population pyramids.
Lesson booklet - 9 lessons (may take you longer than this) which include title, learning objective, recap of prior learning, activities, practice exam questions, reflection.
9 Lesson PowerPoints to support booklet based lessons

Makes use of the Oxford textbook.
I am academic director in an Outstanding academy and we have achieved P8 of 1.14 ranking 18th nationally.
I have reduced the price of my old spec A Level teaching materials into one bundle by 53%.
90% got A*-B.
I hope you can still find these teaching materials useful…I do!
I am a Head of Hums and previous Head of Geog in a successful state school. I also ran a Geography PGCE course previously. My GCSE students acheived 76.9% A/A* and 100% A*-C.
Since this is now the old spec and would need to be adapted, I have bundled these resources and reduced the price. They’re still useful for teaching man y aspects of the courses, especially the synoptic units/skills…I still refer to them regularly for either AQA or OCR new spec content.
This resource includes 16 of my top tips for doing well in the GEOG4b exam on June 9th.
You can adapt it to fit in with your own students or just press print!
I am expected excellent results this year.. I am Head of Geography in one of the top state schools in the country.
